Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin and her new husband, the Djinn David, are running from a malevolent hurricane bent on destroying her. Joined by an army of fellow Wardens and Djinn onboard a hijacked luxury liner, Joanne has lured the storm into furious pursuit. But even their combined magic may not be enough to stop it-nor the power-mad ex-Weather Warden controlling it...
The penultimate title to the Weather Warden series is a tumultuous journey that starts off on the Titanic, lands on a pirate ship and concludes on a rocky alcove, where the ultimate enemy awaits. Joanne Baldwin and her Djinn husband David board a massive cruise ship with the wardens to steer a deadly hurricane from its destructive path, and here they find a whole lot of rich, snobby patrons and one too many Titanic flashbacks.
As with all the other Weather Warden books, Cape Storm delivers plenty of twists and turns that you’d never expect. This is the book that really irons out the love that David has for Joanne, despite his position as the conduit, a link between the Djinn and the Earth. Jo’s demon mark also gave her a dark side, and seeing her express some homicidal tendencies towards her friends and colleagues is really entertaining, especially since she narrates as herself.
There are some loose ends, but I expect them to be tied up in the last installment, Total Eclipse, which I’ll be getting to as soon as possible.
