Stacking the Shelves #6: Reviewing Galore

September 23, 2013 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books, Weekly Memes

For Stacking the Shelves this week, I had a pretty amazing book haul this week, mainly courtesy of publishers. I went crazy on the review requests after my recent reviewing spree.

P1010044 (Medium)

The Odyssey by Homer – These Penguin Hardback Classics are a decorative feature of my home because they are so gorgeous and vintage. I’ve been looking for this one for a while, so when I stumbled upon it at a bookstore, picked it up straight away!

The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa – Thought i’d prepare for the release of the Iron Traitor with the first book. I haven’t read the Iron Fey series yet, don’t shoot me.

Won/For Giveaways

P1010047 (Medium)

The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner – Arrived from Book Depository as a giveaway I won courtesy of YA fantasy author EM Castellan.

All the Truth That’s In Me by Julie Berry – A finished copy arrived from Harper Collins Australia, I’ve already reviewed this previously so will be offering this up for giveaway on my blog soon. Check out my review here.

Review copies

P1010050 (Medium)

Countdown by Michelle RowenΒ – Thank you Harlequin Australia! I love my dystopians and needed to pick this up when I heard about it. I love the whole sickening reality game aspect of it!

Unbreakable by Kami Garcia – Thank you Simon and Schuster Australia, for this one and Endless Knight. I think the cover for this one is way better than the US one. Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code? Supernatural is my favourite show and The Da Vinci Code was awesome! Can’t wait to read this one.

Endless Knight by Kresley Cole – I haven’t read Poison Princess yet but recently picked it up so I could read this one upon release as well! Love the fantasy aspect of it.

The Originals by Cat Patrick – After recently reading Just Like Fate which was co-authored by the same author, I was really eager to read The Originals based on another unusual concept. Thank you Hardie Grant Egmont for sending me this copy.

The Eye of Minds by James Dashner – The blurb for this book is incredibly unique and I love how it’s set in a gaming world! Thank you Random House Australia for this copy.

Sweet Damage by Rebecca James – After reading Beautiful Malice, which was equal parts engrossing and creepy, I knew I had to pick up this university set new adult by Rebecca James. She’s an Aussie author too, yay! Thank you Allen & Unwin for this. I’ll put up my review for Beautiful Malice soon.

Look forward to reviews of these over the coming months!

  1. Ah, I enjoyed the Iron Fey series and I hope you do too πŸ™‚ You just reminded me that I really need to read my eARC copy of The Iron Traitor soon haha.

  2. You have a lot of awesome goodies here. And I am drooling over Eye of Minds. I am a James Dashner fan. I hope it's as good as The Maze Runner Trilogy. πŸ˜€ Re: Iron Fey, we're the same. Everyone is hyping about it and here I am, still stuck with other books that need to be read and reviewed. Anway, I already included it on my TBB list.

I hope you will love it. πŸ˜€

  3. The Lost Prince *cheers* it's so good! I loved it so much, and I had only previously read 2 in the Iron Fey series. So I'm not hatin' that you didn't read the series yet. But you should! It's really good. But Ethan's story is my favorite so far. And The Iron Traitor is such a good continuation πŸ˜€

    • I know, I realise now that it's a series I really should get onto, seems to be really popular with everyone! Glad to hear you enjoyed it even though you haven't finished Iron Fey. Maybe I should do the same and just read the first before I dive in πŸ™‚

    • Wow, seems like a lot of readers are coming forth and saying they haven't read Iron Fey either! Lucky I've read the Immortal Rules & Eternity Cure, which are awesome vampire books (that you should read btw). Thanks Cyn!

  4. Wow awesome selection! I have only read Kresley Cole's Adult books, but I loved those! plan on getting into her YA stuff soon πŸ™‚ I also have a decorative collection! Old Fairy tale books are my thing. I LOVE EM πŸ˜€ I also want to get the B&N leather bound classics though, my copy of the chronicles of narnia is so gorgeous! Thanks for stopping by out page! πŸ˜€

    • Sigh, I don't know why but I'm kind of glad I don't hear/get involved in those Twitter dramas. Think there's a GR drama going on at the moment. Damn, sad to hear that about Countdown! I'm finding Unbreakable to be kind of average atm. Thanks Mel!

    • Yeah, I've heard good things about it but guess other books piqued my interest more. Apaprently by picking up The Lost Prince I'm going to experience some spoilers, but I suppose it's a risk I'm willing to take. Julie Kagawa is an awesome writer, though.

    • I'm really excited to read Poison Princess hey! Will let you guys know what I think! I don't know, I think fae just never really interested me much I guess. But don't tell anyone that I haven't read it, I might get disowned πŸ˜‰
