Top 10 YA Releases of 2013…so far – ibrary.com.au

October 9, 2013 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books

My first guest post

It’s probably a bit premature to call the top 10 books this year, but before the heavies come out (like Fiery Heart, Champion, Allegiant) I’d like to draw attention to some great books that were released this year. With time travel, vampires, emotional reads, alternate realities and more, it’s been a fantastic year for YA books!

Click here for the full list on Brisbane City Council’s ibrary site for high school students. I’ll
be guest posting for the month of October which is exciting stuff!

These include (in no particular order) – click on the book cover to read my review!

  1. Stacey B.

I was very excited to come across this post, thanks for the helpful reviews! ( I have already added a few of these to my MUST read list). I have to recommend a mystery YA book I recently read entitled, “The Riddle of Prague” by author Laura DeBruce (http://theriddleofprague.com/about/). It is book one of the Quicksilver Legacy Series and will have you hooked immediately. 18 year old Hana Silna travels to Prague to reconnect with family and to reclaim her ancestral home, “The Rockery.” What is supposed to be a simple straightforward visit becomes a dangerous adventure when Hana finds out the Rockery is linked to the elixir of immortality. After her family in Prague is kidnapped it is up to Hana and her new-found friends to find the elixir and save her family. This is a book that appeals to everyone because it has it all (suspense, murder, romance, adventure, and numerous twists and turns!). I am so excited to read the next book in the series, “The Temple of Paris.” It’s great to have a YA book series that entertains but can also take you around the world (I am a huge fan of travel!) and Laura DeBruce really makes you feel like you’re in the busy streets of Prague with Hana. I highly recommend!

  2. I've heard such good things about All Our Yesterdays. It's sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read! I definitely should get to it sooner rather than later if it's on your list 😀 I actually haven't read any of the other ones. I really loved The Summer I Became a Nerd and Insignia, but I think those both may have been released in 2012.

    • Read it soon Becca, so you know what all the talk is about. Insignia actually sounds a lot like The Eye of Minds I think, but I liked that one so I might have to check that one out too.

    • I love it so much, Prodigy is amazing too I thought it was better than the first but there were a lot of mixed reviews. I haven't read either of those 3 but a good time to start now hehe

  3. Out of the 6 books you've featured, I've only heard about Prodigy and All Our Yesterdays. I know I am terrible but there's just so many books to read you know. It's hard to keep track. I've read mixed reviews about Prodigy but for All Our Yesterdays, I have yet to meet a blogger who didn't love it. Everyone's fangirling about it. I have to promote it on my TBR list. 😀

Anyway, thanks for bringing these books to my attention, Jeann. Most appreciated.

    • I totally know what you mean Charlotte, so many books so little time! Definitely move All Our Yesterdays up the TBR list 🙂 That one was thrilling and exciting about time travel.

  4. Ooh yes I totally agree about All Our Yesterdays and The Eternity Cure, they were freakin badass and had the best heroines. The House of Hades is also on that list for me >.<

    thanks for sharing, Jeann! <33

  5. I'm looking forward to reading the new YA Thriller SIX MONTHS LATER by debut author Natalie D. Richards. I went to a signing to get a copy and it was sold out. 🙁 So now, I'm waiting to get my care package from Amazon. The reviews are amazing and there aren't that many YA thrillers out there.
