Stacking the Shelves #12 – Yay for TBD Sale!

November 9, 2013 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books, Weekly Memes

As I said in last week’s STS post, I went crazy on TBD when they had a 5% wishlist sale, and this week my purchases came in. Here’s all of my latest books this week:

Let’s take a closer look shall we?

After reading consistently awesome reviews for This Song Will Save Your LifeΒ by Leila Sales and AntigoddessΒ by Kendare Blake, I’ve wanted to read these books for ages. Can’t wait to get into them! I’ve been wanting Inferno to add to my penguin hardback collection forever so glad to finally get my hands on it. Plus bought some of the Heroes of Olympus books so I can read all of them back to back πŸ˜€

Review copiesΒ

Thank you to Allen and Unwin Australia for sending me these review copies.Β

Isn’t the cover forΒ These Broken StarsΒ by Amie Kaufman & Meagan SpoonerΒ absolutely beautiful? I can’t wait to get into it and the blurb sounds freaking amazing. I need to read more YA sci-fis and it’s nice to read something that doesn’t sound so typical for once. Jump by Sean WilliamsΒ (called Twinmaker in the US) is another YA sci-fi, very futuristic and I’ve heard mixed reviews but I’ll have to read it and see.

Bookish News

Never judge a book by its cover – I’m guilty of cover lust:Β My 2nd guest post for the Brisbane City Council Libraries has gone live on their ibrary site where I pick out 10 of my favourite covers and talk about judging books by its covers. Click here to check out my guest post.

What did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. Ooo, I somehow missed the wishlist sale completely! But then again, so many of the titles I've wanted just don't seem to be available to us in the US anymore–I recently had to buy a special Hunger Games set from Amazon UK, for example.

I really, really hope you love THESE BROKEN STARS–it's an exceptional example of YA scifi that doesn't follow any trends and is done so thoughtfully. I loved THIS SONG WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE, too. Happy reading!

    • Yeah, I'm not sure if they emailed everyone who had an account or if it was only people who had something in their wishlist. I am really looking forward to those two books especially after what people have said about it, thanks for the recommendations Wendy!

  2. These Broken Stars is gorgeous! I think I'm going to have to buy a copy for my shelf. I'm reading it now, and it's one of the better space sci-fi books I've gotten my hands on πŸ˜€ I've been wanting to read This Song Will Save Your Life for a while now too — but I haven't bought it yet! I need to get on that πŸ˜‰ Great haul, Jeann! Hope you love all of these <3

  3. Ooh you got an amazing haul this week! Gotta love book sales πŸ˜‰ I never fully finished Dante 's Inferno..gotta do that. And Antigoddess is on my wishlist too! Is that a Softcover copy, or am I just seeing it wrong? I love the gorgeous cover of These Broken Stars. Enjoy!

    And happy reading! <3

    • Oooh a shame you didn't finish it, was it hard to get through? I could see why though seeing as it is a poem. Yup that is a soft cover of Antigoddess πŸ™‚ Thank you! happy reading to you too.

  4. Oh, I loved Antigoddess! It was such a different and powerful take on Greek Mythology. If you like scheming and plotting in a your books, plus lots of action, you'll definitely love Antigoddess! I so want to read This Song will save your life, but amazon is not having any sale and I'm the type of person you will never pay full price lol. Great haul! Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

  5. There's lots of pretties in your book haul this week. I just finished reading These Broken Stars last night and I have to say, I was left a bit underwhelmed. The characters and the romance was wonderful, but the world-building and the plot were very weak. My advice to you is to go into the book not expecting a solid sci-fi read but instead expecting a romance. I think that would definitely help you enjoy it better than I did.

Enjoy your lovely books this week, Jeann!

  7. THESE BROKEN STARS. I am jealous. Very jealous.

Otherwise, you got SO many awesome books! I can't wait to see what you think of Antigoddess, TSWSYL, and These Broken Stars. TBD sales are always awesome and always bad for your money, haha!

    • Oh man, it was so bad and I shouldn't be spending this close to my planned Christmas holiday! Oh well, I'm putting myself on a ban until then hehe. Hope they are some awesome reads!

  8. What a great haul! I totally missed the 5% off offer on TBD, damn it!

And I'm so envious that you got These Broken Stars! I've been dying to read that books since I first heard about it soooo many months ago, I hope you'll love it!

  9. The only book I know of is The House of Hades, the rest are all new to me. But it all seems interesting. And I see you've got Dante's Inferno too. Never had the guts to actually read it. Hope you enjoy it. But let me know how it is. And Maybe One Day seems like a book that'll make me cry my eyes out!! I do occasionally like one of those. Happy reading. πŸ™‚

    • I know, I read a review for Maybe One Day and decided to request it cos it sounded like a great emotional read. I love my classics now and then and Inferno is one I've wanted to try out for a while.

  10. Catherine

I've read the Heroes of Olympus series up until this newest one, House of Hades. It looks so good! All your other purchases are making my fingers twitching; I don't know if I can stop myself from picking up a few books too! Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚
