Stacking the Shelves #27 – Book Bloggers Meetup

I hope everyone had an amazing Easter break. Today I am stacking my shelves after a book  swap this week at a Queensland bloggers meetup! Bec at Readers in Wonderland has been planning it for a while and it was lots of fun discussing books, checking Dymocks and also watching Divergent. Loved chatting about books with everyone and hope to have more events like this in the future!

STS26_4happyindulgence

The Future of Us by Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler
Hidden by Marianne Curley
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
Tiger’s Quest by Colleen Houck
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Smoulder by Brenna Yovanoff
Pretty Little Liars Box set by Sarah Shepard

Review copies – physical

STS_26apr_happyindulgence

Mutant City by Steve Feasey – I haven’t heard of this one before and eh, not sure I’ll be reading it anytime soon.

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira – CANT WAIT to read this, Emma Watson has been raving about it too so obviously it’s gotta be good!

Thank you to Bloomsbury Australia and Five Mile Press for sending me these books!

Bought

STS_26apr_bought

Also visited some book shops together, I’ve been wanting to Up From the Grave by Jeaniene Frost since it was released earlier this year.

Review copies – digital

poisonedapples

Poisoned Apples: Poems for you, my pretty – This is an interesting poetic compilation based on fairy tales with feminist views. It’s not often I read verse books but this sounds really interesting!

What did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. I see MY FACE. Hahahaa XD

But ohmygosh I really need to do a massive haul soon. I got so many from you + others at this meet, and then there was the Lifeline Bookfest AND the Aussie YA Bloggers group. I am drowning in books (and it's wonderful).

I spot my book on your shelf! YAY!

  2. Yay, a picture! I feel like Bec was hiding any pictures from me *suspicious look* I really wanted to see one so yay! xD Anyway, I'm so happy all you guys could meet up-what an awesome group and a fun time! Yet another time I wish I lived in Australia 😉 Anyway, great books! Everyone seems to LOVE Love Letters 😉

    • Don't think she was hiding pictures, but I was pretty much the only one taking them haha. It would be so good to meet you sometime Alise! Love Letters is awesome, I just finished reading it.

  3. Ahhhhh this looks a lot of fun! I wish I got to go, but I live in California lol. You got some awesome books there! 13 Reasons Why is such an awesome book. I'm definitely going to get Love Letters to the Dead in the future. I also got Poisoned Apples which I'll be reading soon. Hopefully it's good.

    • It was so much fun lol. You'll have heaps of bloggers in Cali I think, you guys should get together! I've heard great things about 13 Reasons Why. I hope Poisoned Apples is good too.

  4. Great haul chickadee, I'm loving the book swap in our YA group. I grabbed a few books I've been dying to read. Sounds like you all had an awesome time. Gotta love Aussie bloggers, we've got an incredible community <3

    • Thanks Kelly, how good is the YA book swap? I've been able to clear my shelves of books I will never read and replace them with ones I will. I love Aussie bloggers too <3

  5. I know how it feels! I just had my very first meet up blogger a few days ago and it was amazing. I thought I wouldn't enjoy it because I'm a shy person. Surprisingly, I felt comfortable with them.

Oh, I would like to have a book swap too. It's too difficult to buy all the books you want especially when yo have financial issues.. *sigh*. The Tiger's quest looks interesting, thank you for the easy link. I'll check the first book instead.

What did you add to your shelves this week? – I had to buy the Hollow City during the book signing event.

    • I'm glad your fellow bloggers made you comfortable Irish! It's so much fun swapping out books that you didn't quite enjoy or won't read with books that you will. No problems. Hollow City looks amazing!

  6. Book swap is a great idea, I need to do it with bloggers here! Love Letters To The Dead! I've seen it in many blogs, can't wait to see your thought about it! Poisoned Apple cover looks gorgeous 😀

  7. Wow! It looks like someone's had a great week! 😉 So cool that you got to go meet up with other bloggers – that's always fun!

I just finished Love Letters to the Dead, and I absolutely loved it, so I hope you enjoy it as well! I read 13 Reasons Why and Pretty Little Liars a while back, so I can't wait to read your reviews so we can compare opinions!

Thanks for sharing Jeann and happy reading! <3

  8. Haha, I got sent Mutant City from the UK publisher and pretty much had the same reaction to it. Though Love Letters to the Dead sounds brilliant and I can't wait to get your thoughts on it. And it's so cool that you got to meet some fellow bloggers! I'm glad you had a good time. 🙂

  9. A blogger meet up! I would love to go to one of those. You picked up some great books as well, I really enjoyed Thirteen Reasons Why! I just got my copy of Mutant City so it didn't make this weeks haul, it sounds interesting though and I am looking forward to reading it. I hope you enjoy all of your books and thanks for checking out my haul! 🙂

  11. I love the photo! How cool that you guys had a blogger meet-up! I'm so far removed from everyone that I literally would have to take a plane to meet any other bloggers! South Florida is a lonely place! LOL! 😉

And Love Letters to the Dead is totally on my radar. Looking forward to reading your review on that one! 🙂

  12. Oh this is one great haul! I have been meaning to continue with the Pretty Little Liars series, it seems to be the only books that are getting me though my slump! And how awesome is that you got too meet so many bloggers! Enjoy your pretties! 🙂

  13. Sound like you guys had fun! 🙂 I got Love Letters to the Dead this week too, but from Hot Key Books, and I had a proof copy of Mutant City (which was good, wasn't my favourite, but it was alright.) though, I'll tell you, the proof covers are so much nicer than the actual cover (I actually really hate that cover) haha. Happy reading! 🙂

  14. The meet-up/book swap sounds so fun! I've helped with a book swap day at our office (which has about 6,500 people) and it is awesome to see all the books come in and then be able to take the ones you want.

Love Letters to the Dead doesn't really fall under the category of books I mainly read, but the premise sounds so intriguing I'm going to have to give it a go!

    • Wow, that sounds really amazing having a book swap at your office, must have been the best thing ever! Love Letters to the Dead was brilliant, I just finished reading it. I really recommend it!

  15. Loved Thirteen Reasons Why, and I have The Future of Us but haven't read it yet, so need to get to it soon. Heard good things about Before I Fall, have been told I should read it, so hope you enjoy that, and Love Letters to the Dead is well loved, hope you love it too, the cover is wonderful! 🙂

    • I don't know why I've not heard of The Future of Us before, it sounds totally up my alley and similar to Attachments by Rainbow Rowell! Think I will love it. Thank you Amanda, I just read Love Letters to the Dead and it's brilliant!

  16. Meeting other Aussie bloggers AND doing a book swap sounds like so much fun!

You're so lucky to have gotten a physical review copy of Love Letters to the Dead, I can't wait to see what you think and hopefully read it myself 🙂 (isn't HotKey books based in London?)

Looks like a lot of good books to read!
Eugenia @ Chasm of B recently posted…Discussion: Organizing BooksMy Profile

    • Hey Eugenia, I know I had so much fun meeting everyone else! It must have been Five Mile Press, the distributer for hot Key books here. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll fix it 🙂
