Indulgence Insider is my version of Stacking the Shelves and the Sunday Post, bringing you this week’s haul, bookish news and discussion posts from around the blogosphere!

I’ve had quite a busy few weeks at work lately and haven’t been able to be as active with visiting blogs and commenting, but I’ve been trying my best to catch up on the weekends. Most of my posts have been scheduled these days. Thanks for being patient with me on the commenting side of things and returning the favour. The discussion post section will be back next time!

Book Haul

Review copies – physical

STS_27july14

Cooper Bartholomew is Dead by Rebecca James – I have loved every single book Rebecca James has written, she writes really excellent YA psychological thrillers so I was really excited to receive a review copy of this! I’ll be participating in the blog tour coming up soon.

Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead (Bloodlines #5) – I’ve heard there’s lots of hot Sydrian moments in this one and I can’t wait, especially after the events of the last book! I don’t know what is up with these fake looking covers though lol.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray – I love sci-fi YA and this one looks awesome.

Thank you to Penguin Australia, Harper Collins Australia and Allen and Unwin for sending me these review copies.

Review copies – digital

lost&found

Lost & Found by Brooke Davis – This has been getting a lot of hype lately in Australian bookstores, was so surprised when I got accepted for an eARC on Netgalley.

Bookish News

50 Shades of Gray trailer was released this week and I don’t know why but it feels like a horror movie. I guess Christian wasn’t really what I expected, but I really like the music though.

Brisbane Writers Festival Program is out and it’s jammed packed full of YA authors this time, including Laini Taylor, Diana Sweeney, A.J. Betts, Sean Williams, Isobelle Carmody, Amie Kaufman and more! The Love YA Festival presented at the Brisbane Libraries will be free. Definitely a lot of reading I need to catch up on beforehand.

The Aussie YA Bloggers August Newsletter will be released soon, make sure you’ve signed up to receive the latest version on the 1st of August.

What did you add to your shelves this week? Any exciting bookish news? Link me below!

  1. I am a bit behind myself since I've spent 3 days at the cottage completely unplugged from the world! Don't overstress yourself! I'm taking it a few blogs each day!!

I still need to read the VA series and then start the spin-off series, but I guess I'm in for a fun binge read!

    Happy reading Jeann!

  2. I am so excited about Cooper Bartholomew, I just love Rebecca James' books! She is so talented. Glad to hear you're excited about our newsletter, it's even bigger than last months! LOL that would be traumatising Emily XD

  3. Glad to hear that others relate lol! I can't wait to read A Thousand Pieces of You as well 🙂 can't wait to see the final Aussie cover (I wonder if it will be the same?)

Thanks for sharing your review on the big screen, I wasn't sure after that trailer and I didn't like the book very much but hey, sounds like it was worth it for the eye candy. I totally wasn't sold on Ana either, she annoys me.

  4. Haha yeah, they must be going heavy with the Silver Shadows promo but that means more people get to know it's awesomeness! It's sooo good Kirsty, the series just keeps on getting better.

  5. Oh I'm so excited about Silver Shadows, it's so funny I had to go to the library today because one of my books were due and I ended up picking up 3 more! Gah it's a neverending cycle but it's freeee lol!

  6. Well, I do love the song with Fifty Shades of Grey… though the moaning at the end was pretty cheesy.

But I agree with the ending to the Fiery Heart! What a killer cliffhanger. I plan to lurk by a friend's house and steal her copy – even though I'm kidding. I AM planning on hopping aboard the hold list when I have time. Can't wait to hear your thoughts! 😀

But I've also heard about Marcus in Silver Shadows… muahaha. I can't wait to see that part. ^_^

    • Haha yeah the whole movie felt like it would be cheesy and Ana really annoys me already. Ooh I'm really curious about silver shadows, the book that I'm reading is taking a while to get through though.

  7. Nice haul this week. A Thousand Pieces of You is one I am really excited to read, it looks so good. The Fifty Shades trailer was interesting, I was not a fan of the book at all. Part of me just wants to see the movie to see if they managed to make it any better than the book. I highly doubt it, but it would be hilarious to watch them try. I hope you enjoy all of your books this week 🙂 Here's my STS.

  8. Yay! I haven't started Bloodlines yet even if I was planning to include it on my 2014 Series Reading Challenge but can I do it? Silver Shadows is the fourth or fifth book…? Nyay!

And no worries about being busy and not being able to comment. I truly understand you, Jeann. These days have been busy for me too so I always grab every chance I get to visit and comment on other blogs.

Fifty Shades…fifty shades… The book that gave me a temporary phobia to sex because it was awful. Will you watch it, Jeann? I think I'm going to watch it alone while I scan the reactions of the other movie goers. I think it would be really fun.

    • Thanks for being so understanding about the commenting Charlotte! Silver shadows is the 5th book, it's a really awesome series with a slow burn romance. Lol that sounds really entertaining!

  9. Don't worry about not being able to comment back, Jeann! We, your loyal followers, are still here. 😉

Woohoo for Silver Shadows! Well, um, I actually haven't read Fiery Heart yet, but I know it'll be awesome because all of Richelle Mead's books are. A Thousand Pieces of You looks awesome! 🙂 Lost & Found has such a cute cover!

I haven't seen the 50 Shades trailer yet–I'm waiting to watch it with Dyan so we can swap reactions. 😉

    Have a great week, Jeann!

  10. Hi, Jeann!

Wow. I wish to have a physical ARC someday, maybe when I am older haha. I haven't read VA and Bloodlines. Lol. I hope I get around reading them.. someday.

About the Fifty Shades trailer, yes the music does sounds good! That. Moan. Though. It'll be weird to watch it in a big screen!

  11. I feel like I'm that one person who hasn't read the Bloodlines series, haha. Probably should get on that.

LOL 50 Shades as a horror, I can see it. The trailer just reminds me of Twilight too much for me to take it serious (well actually, I don't think I can ever take 50 Shades seriously, lol) but I do agree, I think the soundtrack is will the best part of the movie!

    Have an awesome week, Jeann!

  12. I totally feel you on commenting, I tend to be quite sporadic. Sometimes I go on a commenting binge, and other times life takes over and I'm gone for weeks ooops. Hopefully things ease for you and you get some time to just relax.

I love the cover of A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray, though you can't really see it on your ARC lol. The premise for that one intrigues me so much, can't wait to read what you thought of it.

HAHAHAHA. Ohhh fifty shades. I can't imagine how awkward that would be to sit through with… well anybody O.o A date movie??? Um nooo thanks

    • Lol yeah, too bad the arc cover isn't the final lol. But I'm not complaining. I totally know what you are saying about the commenting, it's a lot of work. Haha I joked around with the bf about going to see it, not sure if I would.

  13. Thanks Rashika, I guess spending time with you guys would be a nice reward hehe. Ohhh how good does A Thousand Pieces of You look? I know, I wonder if the cover in Australia will be different? Oh my gosh Rashika check out Beautiful Malice and Sweet Damage now. They are sooo good. Thank you lovely! x

  14. A horror … *snort* I disliked Ana a lot, but Christian didn't bother me too much. I only felt that way because I saw him and the situation as something I could easily handle – put him in his place. lol.

    Enjoy your books, hon! 🙂

  15. People are looking forward to Silver Shadows and A Thousand Pieces of You so I really hope you enjoy those! Small hauls are always lovely and I think this is a nice one considering you've been obsessed with the library lately, so enjoy! 🙂

  16. Ahhh, A Thousand Pieces of You, soooo can't wait to read it, love Claudia Gray. Silver Shadows showed up in my mail yesterday (which I gather is from Penguin) otherwise I don't know how it got there, haha. I never pre-ordered it since I'm waiting for the whole series to finish (I learned my lesson with Shadow Kiss about waiting in-between books), but I didn't request it, so that was a surprise, haha. Happy reading!

  17. Ooh Silver Shadows!! I am so excited for the release of that, eeekk next Tuesday!! 😀 There BETTER be sizzling Sydrian scenes 🙂 I can't wait to read A Thousand Pieces of You. It sounds great and oh gosh the actual cover is gorgeous!

The 50 Shades trailer looks weird… The music is quite good though! Lovely haul 🙂

  18. I'm in the same boat you are in! I typically do my posts and comments on either Saturday or Sunday because my work week is way jammed packed…you aren't alone in this my friend!

I so wanna read A Thousand Pieces of You because sci-fi rocks my world!!!

I saw the trailer of FSoG and thought it was really good BUT then I saw it on the big screen last night while at the movies and it had a totally different effect on me. First, I think Jamie Dornan is HAWT. Yup, there, I said it. *wink* But I'm not sold on Dakota Johnson. Nope. Not one bit. That's gonna be the type of movie you go see with your gal-pals, you know? Who knows how the actual movie will turn out but I'm usually always disappointed with books turned into movies. *shrugs*

  19. Cooper Bartholomew looks great! (and is surprisingly difficult to spell) I own one of Rebecca James's books but haven't got around to reading it yet…soon! (she says, eyeing the monstrous TBR)

I'm excited for the next Aussie YA bloggers newsletter…not so excited for the Fifty Shades movie – it was bad enough finding out my mum had read the books. *shudders*

  20. Hot Sydrian moment!? I need Silver Shadows ASAP!! 😉 You know, I've never actually read anything of Rebecca James's — yet — but I do continually hear good things about her novels. Just another author to add to my massive TBR list… A Thousand Pieces of You also looks wonderful!

  21. Cooper Bartholomew is Dead and A Thousand Pieces of You look awesome! I got them for review recently as well and I can't wait to read them. I'm a huge fan of Rebecca James already, and from what I've seen from the synopsis and cover online, Claudia Gray's new release is something I am really looking forward to!

Hope you enjoy all your books Jeann 🙂

  22. Aww, take your time catching up, Jeann! Being overworked is no fun and hopefully the pressure at work will ease a little so that you'll get to spend more time with us!

A Thousand Pieces of You! I grabbed this on off of EW and I am hoping I'll enjoy it too! 😀 It's a pity your edition of the ARC doesn't have a cover though .-.

I haven't heard of Rebecca James but if we're talking YA psychological thrillers, I may just need to check it out!!

Great haul, Jeann and I hope you have a fantastic week!! 🙂

  23. All I see is hype for Silver Shadows and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE SERIES IS. I should know…I should actually read something by Richelle Mead. Hehe. How behind can I get?! (Okay..don't answer that. XD) I really like that cover for Cooper Bartholomew. It's just those oranges or something…it's really awesome. And oh I'm totally check out Lost & Found! I haven't heard of it before but insta-cover-love there. 😉

  24. I'm so excited to read another Rebecca James book. I recently read and loved Sweet Damage and regretted not having picked up one of her books sooner. Really looking forward to the blog tour to see what you think of it. I haven't read any in the Bloodlines series, but received a copy of Silver Shadows as well. I tried to read book one, but gave up. I'll try again though because I have them all in paperback. Awesome haul Jeann, pity the Thousand Pieces of You is a blank cover, the actual cover is so gorgeous!

  25. I'm purchasing a copy of Silver Shadows when it comes out although I still haven't read the previous book! Hot Sydrian moments you say? I'm in! 😀

I have a Thousand Pieces as well and I'm very curious about it! The plot sounds exciting. 🙂

I'm with you on the 50 Shades trailer. It scared the heck out of me, especially when Christian tells her that he is looking at her. It gave me creepy feels! But yes, the song is awesome!

Have a good weekend, Jeann and enjoy your lovely books! 🙂

    • Oh my gosh, you are totally missing out Nick, I really LOVED the last book, as things really evolved in the relationship between Sydney and Adrian. Glad to hear you're totally in lol! Yeah, that 50 shades trailer is scary and reinforces the fact that he's a possessive stalker >< Thank you lovely, you too!
