Which book published in 2014 surprised you the most (good or bad)?
It was definitely Four: A Divergent Collection by Veronica Roth. I had purchased and read the first novella, The Transfer and found it such a major departure from the Four I knew that I decided not to read the rest.
What is your favorite genre?
My new favourite genre that emerged in 2014 was psychological thrillers! It used to be paranormal, then dystopians, and I always found contemporaries to be kind of ho hum, so there it is.
What new author did you discover this year that you think people should keep an eye on?
This is such a tough question! Becca and Krista Ritchie were my favourite new discovery this year (THANK YOU SIIRI) because their new adult series is BRILLIANT.
What classic that you’ve read is your favorite?
I LOVE The Picture of Dorian Gray, it’s readable, chilling and explores a narcissistic person. Definitely my type of read.
Which book-to-movie adaptation was your favorite this year?
What a tough question, there were so many great adaptations! I loved The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent and Mockingjay Part 1, but I would have to say my favourite was Divergent. Just look at Four 😉
What new blog have you discovered that you absolutely love?
NO DON’T MAKE ME CHOOSE. I love you all!
Do you prefer writing negative or positive reviews?
I don’t mind writing either, but with every review I try and include negative and positive points. Sometimes negative reviews are hard to write when you struggle to find a redeeming quality in the book so it doesn’t sound like you’re totally bagging it out. Positive reviews can be hard to write as well especially if you don’t want to just sound like you’re gushing.
Is commenting on blogs an easy thing for you to do?
Commenting isn’t hard, but it can take a lot of time, especially if you want to leave a thoughtful comment without sounding generic. As long as I set some time out to read blog posts, commenting is fine (and so important for interacting with the blogger community and discovering new blogs)!
What series that ended in 2014 did you like best this year?
Up From the Grave by Jeaniene Frost – it was such a wonderful, bittersweet ending to a very long and beloved series.
What is your number one blogging tip?
Scheduling is the key. I don’t know what I would do without it, probably miss a lot more blog posts.
I tag anyone who hasn’t done this tag yet! (Lame, I know but I’m late to the party and everyone seems to be tagged already).
