Indulgence Insider #26 – Age of Ultron & Fantasy Lootcrate

April 26, 2015 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books, Features, Indulgence Insider

Indulgence Insider is our version of Stacking the Shelves and the Sunday Post, bringing you this week’s haul, bookish news and discussion posts from around the blogosphere!

Last week quietness was the calm before the storm – had a super tiring week this week! Had a lot going on at work and personally, still getting used to the food thing but feeling a bit more optimistic as I’ve been able to find some takeaway options.

Also watched Age of Ultron on release night, it was good and please don’t hate me but I accidentally fell asleep halfway through. The action scenes were fantastic, but there was a forced romance, lack of plot and a lot of witty banter seemed to be missing in this one. It’s still worth seeing for Hulk vs Hulkbuster fighting scene though.

Got my fantasy Lootcrate as well – loving some of these things. I think I’ll cancel my Lootcrate subscription now, ending up with a lot of random bits and pieces. I subscribed to Marvel Collector Corps in its place, because I saw spoilers on Instagram about what it contains.

  1. I ordered the fantasy Lootcrate too but the wait was sooo long! I actually excepted it to be cooler but there's definitely a lot of useless junk haha. I cancelled my subscription too, not really all that keen for all the nitbits. 😛

Sad to hear that about Age of Ultron. :/ And now I'm very curious about the romance they put in there. I hope it's not too forced.
I love Split Second SO MUCH. It's my second favorite KW book, right after The Distance Between Us.
    Happy reading, girl!

    • Yeah, it wasn't my favourite definitely. The romance was terrible! So glad to hear you loved Split Second, I'm excited about reading it!

    • I bet it would be pretty amazing entertainment hehe. Yeah…Split Second has taken me a long time to finally find.

My friend was telling me about this month's lootcrate – I love the Princess Bride cards! It's too bad Age of Ultron didn't completely wow you – I would at least want more banter! But I hope to see it soon, I'm sure it's still a fun time at the movies. 🙂

Ooh…I'm curious to see what you think about Split Second Jeann. I just read it a few days ago and found it enjoyable, but not quite as good as its predecessor, but I'm looking forward to reading your review on it. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous haul!

  5. I’m glad the food thing is going better! I’ve found a restaurant that satisfies most of my wants but without the bad stuff – it always makes things so much easier.

I’ve heard Ultron isn’t as good as the first Avengers… so I’m going in with slightly lowered expectations. Still, I’m pretty freaking excited!

OMG Grave Mercy is the bomb dot com. Definitely a favorite from this year for me so far!

    • Ah, I hit another slump today when I walked around hungry and realised I couldn't buy anything -_- that's awesome you found a restaurant though! Glad to hear you loved Grave Mercy, I'm enjoying it so far.

  6. Curious about your thoughts on Before Sunrise. I've been meaning to pick that up, but I haven't read too many reviews. Anyway, I hope you'll have a better week, and it sucks about Age of Ultron. Hopefully, I can persuade my husband to watch it with me this weekend. Lol.

    • Yeah, I enjoyed the theme for this one, they are definitely hit and miss. Hehe yes, you must use Instagram more! 🙂

    • THanks Kimba, I hope I have an easier week too! Glad to hear you loved that one, I\’m looking forward to reading it. You too Kimba!

You saw Age of Ultron?! I'm jealous. It's not out in theaters here yet. Based on the trailer I had a feeling there would be a romance that I'm not looking forward to ahhh. That fantasy Lootcrate looks cool! I recently subscribed to my first subcription box (OwlCrate) and I can't wait to see what goodies will be in it 😀 Grave Mercy is on my summer binge list, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it! Happy reading <3

    • Yes, it was good but not as good as I would have hoped! Oooh can't wait to see what's in OwlCrate, you'll have to post it up on Instagram when it comes!

    • Oooh thanks for the update on Bright Sunrise, I'm not sure what to expect because of mixed reviews. You too Krystianna!

  8. I admit I am more…invested…than most in the lives of a few Marvel characters, but I sort of hated AoU 🙁 If it wasn't a MCU movie I would have loved it (it was fun) but it felt so OOC and out of sync with the rest of the 'verse. I'm not entirely sure what the point of it is in the overall story arc aside from 'woo let's have cool action scenes!' :/ the forced romance was the actual worst. I sort of wish the Russo brothers had been able to take over sooner 🙁 they did so much awesome with Winter Soldier, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Cap3 and the next Avengers films.

I am also looking forward to seeing what you think about Grave Mercy, I just bought a copy yesterday! Have heard many good things 🙂
My recent post Showcase Sunday #24

    • Yeah, I hear you, you weren't the only one which is unfortunate. There were some cool action scenes, but yeah I wasn't a big fan of those romance scenes *shudders* can't wait for Cap 3, I really loved Winter Soldier!

  9. Grace @ RebelMommyBB

I really enjoyed The Girl on the Train but totally hear you on there was s something more that I was expecting. I have Grave Mercy on my kindle and can't wait to get to some Assassin Nuns – Love the book pictures – Have a wonderful week!

OMG!!! Yes, the forced romance in Age of Ultron just made me cringed. The movie started and I was like, "wait. they're suddenly in love now?" Then I pretty much broke down cuz my ship was Captain America and Romanoff. I STILL HAVE HOPE!!!
    Love the books!!! Sooooo pretty……
Thanks for the link. I really want to read Grave Mercy. I mean assassin nuns!! Where do you ever get to see that?!
    Thanks for the recap!!!

  11. YAY for enjoying the assassin nuns, Jeann! I loved that whole series – well done both historically and when it comes to character development.

  12. Ohh The Selection?! OKAY I'M TOTALLY UP FOR THAT. Just for the pretty dresses. Yup. Not even ashamed. x) I just finished Bright Before Sunset! It was cute but kind of unbelievable, imho. It has that Graffiti Moon vibe (but Graffiti Moon is better).

I didn't see Age of Ultron (gah, I don't like cinemas) buuut my sister said it was good! She made the same comments about not enough funny though. THAT IS SAD. I hope Marvel doesn't get too serious, because the witty banter is why I love them. 🙁

    • I haven't read the series and I'm not sure whether I would like the romance or main character, so maybe it's one that I just watch. Glad to hear you liked Bright Before Sunrise, I'm not sure what to think at the moment. Yeah, a bit sad about Ultron, but oh well.
