Indulgence Insider #31 – Books for Trade AU & Bookish News

June 14, 2015 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books, Features, Indulgence Insider

Indulgence Insider is our version of Stacking the Shelves, Bought, Borrowed & Bagged and the Sunday Post, bringing you this week’s haul, bookish news and discussion posts from around the blogosphere!

It was a short week due to a public holiday on Monday, which was good because the weekend came faster. It was a pretty busy week, still continued on with the medical visits and everything. My stomach pains can be really bad, interfering with my sleep and everything and just generally feeling ill on a daily basis. I’m just hoping they figure something out soon.

Have been commenting on heaps of new blogs lately, it’s been fun discovering new blogs and styles! Kristy will be posting her 2nd review on Happy Indulgence tomorrow.

I’ve also been participating in #booksfortradeAU on Twitter, it’s such a great way to refresh the bookshelves. If you’re an Aussie and you’re keen on any titles, let me know what you want to trade on Twitter or below. Taken – Kissing in America, Dissonance, The Eye of Minds, The Girl in the Steel Corset and Blue Lily, Lily Blue.

I'm so, so in love with the Their Fractured Light cover! It's so pretty, just like the others.

OMG GIRL YOU HAVE BURN!!!!!!!!!! I have my copy on pre-order. I can't freaking wait!

  2. lab1990

Woah, lots of fun sounding books you have there. I really want to read American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and just more by him in general. I love finding new blogs too.

Interesting trailer for Mockingjay part 2. I'm interested to see how different this will be from the book. I haven't read the book, but I had my sister watch the trailer (who has read the books) and she was surprised by some of the things she saw. I think she said they were in the sewers underground for most of the time in the book.

P.S. Seems like this comment form overlaps with the comments below and it's hard to select the comment options here. Seems like you need more padding on your comment area:

My recent post Review: Hidden Huntress

    • Thanks so much for the coding Steph, I really appreciate it! So many bits and pieces I've never bothered (or don't know how to) fix lol.

  4. Romi

Oh, I've been a little sad that I haven't been able to participate in the booksfortradeau tag, becaue I'm not on Twitter- boo. Thank you for putting yours up here, Jeann! I hope you get some neat trades.

I'm sorry you're still not in the medical clear, Jeann. Another week and another hug from me to you, lovely. It can be so stressful and draining, and I'm sorry this isn't something that's being easily resolved. xx

    • Definitely let me know if you want to trade anything on here Romi! Thank you hun, I really appreciate it. I'm just trying to hang in there for now.

I am trying so so hard to not buy everything on my wishlist in the Steam Sale (I have 80 things on it at the moment) but my Steam library is already so overwhelmingly large that I've managed to buy only one thing so far – Magicka for the boyfriend on the flash sale 😛

Enjoy your new reads and surviving the steam sale.

My recent post Bought, Borrowed & Bagged (68)

    • I have a fair few on the steam wishlist as well but I look at my steam list and realise I haven't played many games from previous sales.

  6. How did I miss the release of the Mockinjay trailer? Seriously, I love these films, and I can't wait for M2. I absolutely adore the cover for Their Fractured Light and I agree, it is even better than the first two covers. Have a great week, and happy reading!!!
My recent post How Do You Feel About Co-Blogging?

    • I knowww, I stare at it everyday because it's so amazing. Thank you Kayla for all your support on Twitter too! *Hugs*

  7. Burn looks good. I think your little Aussie exchange program is wonderful. Thanks for all the discussion links. Hope your week is simply amazing!

  8. fictionalskylines

I've never seen a lot of those covers in the trade, so I'm guessing Australia gets UK covers mostly?

Ahh the Mockingjay Part 2 Trailer looks great, Finnick's one-liner gave me chills but my favorite part was probably seeing Brienne in fur 😉 7 Days looks so interesting, I need to check that out!
My recent post Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

    • Yup, we mainly get the UK editions. Sometimes we even get our own covers. I loved Finnick's segment! AND YES BRIENNE WAS AWESOME!

  9. Are they still no closer to finding out what's wrong? Could it just be as you're getting older, you have to change your diet a bit? I had to do that a few months ago. Nothing with sauce or gravy, or I have to take a tablet. One soft drink per day, no juice, tea with sugar upsets my tummy too. So all the delicious things in life. Hopefully they're working towards an answer.

I have to start the Paula Weston series too. I just bought books one and two to go along with three and four. Loved seeing Mel's quote on the cover too.

Effie Trinket is directing Red Queen? That could be… interesting.
Have a wonderful week of reading Jeann and hope you start to improve soon <3

My recent post The List Book… The One With The Really Long Title

    • Yeah, I do think that's it Kelly, but they found a few abnormalities and it's all very stressful and frustrating getting poked and prodded and carted around the place with no answers.

Great to hear, maybe we can buddy read Shadows if you're keen?

I had no idea that was Effie lol! Thank you love <3

You got so many great books this week. They look amazing. I hope you love all of them. The cover for Their Fractured Light is stunning. I actually like the trailer for Mockingjay Part 2. Have a wonderful week.

    Grace @ Books of Love

    • Thanks Grace, definitely heaps of great titles! I'm looking forward to Their Fractured Light and Mockingjay Part 2.

    • Thanks love, I have the whole series to catch up with! I'm excited about Mockingjay as well, hopefully it's good. Or better than the last one at least.

  11. rlsharpe

Sorry to hear about your stomach troubles, hope the doctors can figure it out soon, that sounds horrible.

You have Burn! I love that series.

The cover for Their Fractured Light is just gorgeous.

I love the Hunger Games trailer. I can't wait to see it.

Jeann I'm a new follower, I love finding new blogs that are in Australia and just from this post alone I was so thrilled that I found so many Aussie events.

I really want to buy tickets to Papertown tomorrow and it's only $13 but I've got no one to go with 🙁 No one is as much a bookworm as me and I only just got Papertown so haven't even read it yet. I did love Fault in our Stars.

    • Thanks for following me on all the platforms Angelica! Hope you found the news of use. I need to read Paper Towns as well, I'm not sure if I'd like it yet though.

  13. Grace @ RebelMommyBB

I hope they figure out what's wrong soon. Feel better! That cover for Their Fractured Light is gorgeous!! I still need to catch up on the second book still though. Thanks for the link back to my post!!

Phew, such impressive piles of books ! I hope the doctors find out quickly what's going on with your healthy, not knowing can be so stressing on top of the rest… Take care and feel better soon 🙂

  15. Oh my goodness, Jeann! Your new books look absolutely amazing! And the book trade thing is such a good idea. I would definitely try to set up something like that if I had more paperbacks and not only e-books 🙂
I hope you'll be able to figure out what is wrong with you health-wise, and that the doctors will have an easy way to help you feel better!!

Aw, I hope you feel better soon! Totally wish I was in AUS right now, it'd be so fun to trade. And oooh, Ms. Marvel sounds like a must read! I'm pretty sure the steam summer sale will be the end of me. Or at least my wallet.
My recent post Review: The Heir by Kiera Cass

    • Thanks lovely, one day we will meet! Ms Marvel was AWESOME! I totally recommend it. YESSS the steam sale is soo good, you have to let me know what you pick up.

  17. Damn, Jeann, I hope you get answers and relief for your stomach soon. That's awful. Oh yeah, forgot about the MJ2 trailer. I've lost enthusiasm for the movies, but still eager to see the final installment.

    • Thank you Christy, I really appreciate it! I know what you mean, sometimes when they drag out too long we lose interest.

  18. I looooove the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer but GAH. I'M LIKE BEHOLDEN TO LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT MOVIE FOREVER AND EVER. They can basically do no wrong by this point. I'm gonna bawl. :')
And I luuurve the cover of Their Fractured Light. Does it look like a really long flapper dress to you?! IT DOES TO ME. I'm so excited! *dances*
I have Extraordinary Means too and pretty much DESPERATE to read it!! And I'm glad ember in the Ashes lived up to the hype for you. I'm kind of worried about it, tbh, because there's so much YA stuff with Roman vibes these days but AH. I shall not judge till I try!!

    • I'm totally with you Cait, I remember watching the first Hunger Games trailer and getting teary and shivers up my spine lol. It's going to be so sad! YES A FLAPPER DRESS. My gosh I can't wait, I'm going to gaze at the cover lovingly when I get it in my hot little hands. I totally agree with you on the hype, but it was great!

  19. JEANN FEEL BETTER SOON OKAY?? <3 Sending you lots of love and get-well bugs!

I haven't read The Beginning of Everything yet but I LOVE the sound of Extraordinary Means! Plus the new cover is so pretty. <3

THE MOCKINGJAY TRAILER AHH DYING. I am so so excited for the feels and this movie in general–AKA the one where everyone dies. (Finnick don't leave me!)

I hope you feel better soon Jeann! Great to see you loved An Ember in the Ashes – it's getting so much positive feedback, and I can't wait to read it myself 🙂 You have some fantastic picks there to trade – hopefully you find more people to swap with! The Their Fractured Light cover and Mockingjay trailer both look amazing – I can't wait to experience them both. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
