Read Play Blog is back for another month of gaming! Anahera is currently on a blogging hiatus, so I’m hosting this one solely this month. This month’s question is:
What game world would you like to live in?
My answer for this is definitely Final Fantasy! A world that is so different to our own and full of mystical creatures and fantasy objects and most of all, magic. There’s different final fantasy games, but most of them will have similar creatures and worlds:
Here’s some of the weird and wonderful things you can find in Final Fantasy:
Forget public transport, you’ll travel by chocobos while listening to some really funky theme music. Chocobos can come in different colours and some even come with powers.
2. Really cool hair and outfits
Final fantasy characters are known for their incredibly stylised looks, who wouldn’t want to go around looking fancy with your own individual style?
3. Magic Powers
White magic and black magic is a big part of final fantasy, and many characters are defined by the types of spells they can cast. It’s not Harry Potter type of magic however, most of this stuff is elemental and can help or hinder you in a fight.
How freaking cute are these little flying cats? Moogles are smart, useful little creatures to have and many of them have helped adventurers out.
5. Ultimate Weapons
If you’re part of the Final Fantasy world, that means you’ll have an ultimate, elusive weapon out there that will be hard to get, but totally worth it. Guns, nunchucks, swords, bows, even summoning rods and gloves, there will be a perfect one out there for you.
6. Towns and Taverns
Each town will always have a tavern, inn, and item shops where you can always find a place to rest, discover the latest gossip or stock up on the latest supplies. That would certainly make things more predictable right?
Recommendation: Grim Fandango Remastered
I just saw Grim Fandango Remastered on Steam, and it makes me excited because this is one of my favourite classic adventure games ever! It has a really fantastic story, about a mexican Grim Reaper who has to collect people’s souls as they move on. His one true love has been kidnapped from him and he moves earth and water just to reunite with her again. Such a creative game and I definitely recommend it!
Get it from Steam here.
Currently Playing: Batman Arkham Origins
In anticipation for the release of Arkham Knight, I decided to go back and finish my game of Arkham Origins. While I loved Arkham Asylum, which was my Game of the Year in 2009, with Arkham City being a great follow-up, I have found Origins so far to be the weakest in the series. I get rather distracted with the side quests and data packs that I need to work and collect, but the reward of getting Enigma’s trophies are probably less worthwhile. I’ll get there though, but so far I’m only playing in small doses.
Next month’s question: What geek conventions have you been or would like to attend? – post your answer, recommendation & currently playing on the 16th or anytime during the month and link up!
