The Ultimate Book Tag: 25 Bookish Questions

July 10, 2015 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books, Features

The lovely Aimee @ Deadly Darlings and Eugenia @ Genie in A Book tagged me to do this tag, so here goes! It’s a long quiz, prepare for the snarking.

1. Do you get sick while reading in a car?
I don’t actually! I get most of my reading done on public transport to and from work, and I love reading in the car because it fills up every spare moment of my time while travelling.

2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?
I adore Rachel Caine’s easy conversational writing style, which is present whether she writes adult or YA fiction.

3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.
You can’t be serious.

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books)?
Only when I go to the library. Pretty much just books.

5. Do you smell your books?
Only when there’s nobody looking.

6. Books with or without little illustrations?
Without, I like how words can paint pictures in your head.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?
The Twilight series!

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!
Well. When I was about 6-7 years old, I carried Roald Dahl’s Matilda around school, thinking I was super cool for reading a thick book. Little did I know…

9. What is the tiniest book on your shelf?
My Small World compendium (it’s a board game).

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?
The Walking Dead compendium, this thing doubles as a weapon in the zombie apocalypse.

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?
It’s a distant dream that I’ve never done anything about. I write on my blog, but that counts right?

12. When did you get into reading?
When I was a wee toddler and my sister always read me bedtime stories.

13. What is your favourite classic book?
I love the Picture of Dorian Gray, so creepy.

14. In school what was your best subject?
English…is that a surprise?

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?
Burn it. BURN IT! Just kidding. I’d give it away.

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?
Why is this a question.

17. What is a bad habit you always do while blogging?
Getting distracted by shiny new tabs.

18. What is your favorite word?
This is like asking me who your favourite child is.

19. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?
I’m a massive nerd, and proud of it.

20. Vampires or Fairies? Why?
Vampires. Never been a fan of fairies, they’re weird (I get that’s the point)

21. Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?
Angels, because Castiel.

22. Spirits or Werewolves? Why?
Spirits, because they are way creepier.

23. Zombies or Vampires? Why?
Zombies, who eat braiiinnns.

24. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?
Never the love triangle. Forbidden love is okay.

25. And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?
Action, always the action.

I tag…(not sure who’s done it or not!)

Lol this tag has quite the variety of questions. I don't even know how I would answer half of these. Like what's my favorite word? No clue haha.
English wasn't my best subject in school. I really didn't like it. Writing essays was the worst 😛 I guess I just don't like other people telling me what to write about. I was better at math in high school 🙂

"Never the triangle" AMEN <3 <3
I've never read Rachel Caine, but I'm hoping to get Ink and Bone soon!

  3. Oh, you know what's interesting, I can read in a train, subway, bus no problem, but if it's a car that's when I feel sick. I have no idea why! But yeah, I read on public transpo while in London all the time but don't even like the thought of doing it in a car here!

And haha, I like how your completion of this tag was way less overwhelming than mine. Why can't I ever answer questions in one sentence? I ramble way too much >.<

  4. Charnell

HAHAHA!!! I loved your answer for the HP vs Twilight question…. They CAN'T be serious!?!?! It's not even a real question. CASTIEL!!! OH YES!!! Definitely agree to never the love triangle, but I don't mind forbidden love. Fun tag!!! 🙂

    • Hahhaha I know right, I didn't want to honour that question with an answer! Thanks Charnell! You should do it too 🙂

  5. I do a lot of my reading on public transport as well, English was my favorite class and YES VAMPIRES OVER FAIRIES lol. I don't really understand high fae stuff, it confuses me since I'm a slowpoke and vampires are much more easier to get along with.. not literally but yeah. Cute answers overall Jeann 😉
My recent post Mini Reviews #12 ♥ Sugar, Dark Triumph & more.

    • Ah yes, I really enjoyed English, especially with the assigned books we had to read! I'm the same with the high fae Benish. But I get what you mean with vampires! XD

  6. I like how words can paint pictures in your head. I love this sentiment, so incredibly lovely Jeann. Completely agree with everything, except reading in the car. I can't even read a text on my phone while the car is in motion (as a passenger), just putting my head down while moving at all makes me really car sick, and no one enjoys car vomit.

    • WHAT A WEIRD QUESTION! I guess there's no better time to start than the present, but I don't know! Glad you like vampires as well 😉

    • I know, I am super lucky that I'm able to tune everything else out! I guess cos there's nothing else to do. I KNOW RIGHT WHY IS THAT A QUESTION

  7. Symphony of Words

This is so adorable. I love how your answers are short and to the point. Hahaha, I cannot believe you're able to read in a moving vehicle. I either was to and then go to sleep because my head is blasting away, or I turn into a squint-eyed bludger and kill everyone. Yeah, its bad. Its so lovely that we both like smelling books.. In our defense, however, THE WORLD smells books its human nature. I mean, how can you NOT. They're priceless objects of heavenly smell. Ahem.

    • Hahha thank you! I know, I'm so lucky I can read without getting a headache lol. Hahah I know right! Old books new books, books with different paper, yes please. XD

    • Oh man, I just couldn't imagine why I would have to! Yup, that's totally what I meant lol. I'm notorious for opening up 1000 tabs.

  8. lab1990

Fun post! I agree about the Twilight books. I really liked them when I read them – they were quick reads too – but I soon realized it wasn't that great of a story. LOVE the Harry Potter books though. I grew up on those. As for classic books, I also really like Picture of Dorian Gray.

My recent post Absolutely True Lies by Rachel Stuhler

    • So did I, I loved running out and buying Harry Potter as soon as it was released! Nothing could compare to the worldwide phenomenon that it was.

  9. This is such an adorable post! I actually read a lot when I'm commuting somewhere haha, my dad is astounded I can remain okay without nausea. haha. Same with Twilight. I agree that I actually loved everything about it when I was reading it, but after… well let's just say that i was young. haha (Tho the book IS BETTER than the movie)
My recent post HI GUYS. I'M ALIVE!

    • Hahha thanks Jules, I had fun with it! Absolutely, I read so much on public transport, gotta have my book lol. Hahah oh gosh that Twilight movie was terrible. Good to see you Jules!

  10. keionda

I feel like the human in the world that is in love with Twilight. Ehhhh…. 0_o I really get sick while reading in the car which is why I can't even glance down at my phone. And I really really prefer forbidden love over love triangles any day so I definitely agree!

    • LOL I know what you mean, it doesn't get a very good rap in the blogosphere lol! Oh dear, that's no good getting car sick at all!

  11. Grace @ RebelMommyBB

I am so lucky I don't get sick in the car while reading because I always can get a lot in that way. I am with you on #7!! And it's sad because I was old enough to know better!
My recent post Blog Tour ~ Faking Perfect

    • I know, that's the same with me Grace! Hahah Twilight actually led me to the Vampire Academy series which i Loved, so I guess there's no regrets there.

  12. I'm so jealous that you don't get sick on moving vehicles when reading! It's like the worst thing that can happen to a book lover! Thank goodness for audiobooks. Haha! I'm not sure what to think of your choice of vampires over fairies though.
This was fun to read, Jeann! 🙂
My recent post Review : Last First Kiss by Lia Riley

    • I know, I'm so thankful for it because I get most of my reading done there! Hahah I don't mean Twilight vampires, but there's some other pretty good vampires (eg. Damon & Stefan ;))

  13. SPIRITS?! There's books about spirits?! Whaaaat? Man, I need to find these but in all honesty, I don't really enjoy paranormal but still: SPIRITS?!
I've never read Twilight (is that a bad thing?) but I don't reall feel like I'm missing out in anything and I don't see myself reading it in the future. But I'm not in any position to judge since I never read them but I believe your opinion if it isn't quality writing.
    HIlARIOUS tag, Jeann!!!!

  14. "7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?
    The Twilight series!"

DITTO JEANN! I will always love the Twilight series for getting me back into reading, but I also recognize that if I read it now that I probably wouldn't get what all the fuss was about:)

Also, I despised, DESPISED Crime and Punishment in school, so if that book ever showed up on my doorstep again I would maybe want to burn it, but then I'd give it away too 😉 Misery loves company, right?!
My recent post Trollhunters: Top of the Food Chain Giveaway!

    • Hahah yup, everyone is agreeing with Twilight lol! oh man, Crime and Punishment sounds scary. It's such a big book!

  15. Eugenia

Yep, Twilight for me was the same *little did I know back then*. ANYWAY, you're so lucky you can read in the car – it would definitely save a lot of time I could imagine! I've never read anything by Rachel Caine before but I love a book with easy-to-read prose sometimes so I might check her novels out 🙂 Thanks for doing the tag Jeann!

    • LOL everyone answered that one I swear! Absolutely, I'm glad I don't get carsick. Oooh yes I love Rachel Caine, from her adult to her YA series!

    • I know, back at uni I used to read my lecture notes on the bus as well! It really has let me save time lol. Twilight is the answer to that question always 😉

  16. Buahaha I laughed when I saw Twilight on your list of books that you loved while reading but found out it was shit. Because it was soooo bad, but year 7 me was OBSESSED!

  17. I have done this one. 😉 But I loooved reading your answers. LUCKY YOU FOR NOT GETTING MOTION SICK. Ugh. I get motion sick so bad. Audio books save lives when travelling though. XD
Blogging is writing! It totally counts as saying you are a writer.
My worst blogging habit is getting distracted looking for gifs. Omg, I spend more time gif searching than actually writing posts. xDXD

    • Haha if you see any searches for "Ultimate Book Tag" then that's me! I swear you had done it before! Yeah, I know how distracting it is looking for gifs, you could spend hours looking for the right one LOL!
