Read Play Blog 2

Read Play Blog is a meme about video games and books, posted every 16th of the month. Bloggers are encouraged to answer a discussion question, and recommend a video game that is similar to a book they liked. Hosted by Happy Indulgence Books & Read Me Away.

Read Play Blog is back for another month of gaming! This month’s question is:

What’s on your holiday gaming wishlist?

To be honest I already have heaps of games on Steam that I haven’t played yet so I’m not looking for any new ones. But the Steam sale will probably make me acquire more new games as usual! I decided to focus on games that I want to play these holidays:

1. Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void

I was totally planning on playing this when I got it on release, but Fallout 4 has taken up all of my time! I need to finish off the Heart of the Swarm campaign, and then see how it all ends in Legacy of the Void. Looking forward to some RTS action and learning all my hot keys!

2. Mass Effect 2

I loved playing the first game and I’ve heard the 2nd is one of the best in the series! I’ve been saving this up for when I have free time and I think it’d be the perfect time to play it. I love space and being Commander Shepherd and how open ended this game is!

3. Fallout 4

Truth be told, I’ll probably be spending all of my time playing this instead and trying to max it out and discover all the locations and kill all the super mutants 🙂 I’ve been playing it on and off because it gets pretty intense if I play it before bed.

Recommendation & Currently Playing: Fallout 4

Surprise surprise, I’m still playing Fallout 4 and really enjoying it! I’ve been playing sporadically, sometimes I will binge on it for long periods of time and other times I’d get sick of it. I’m actually only on Level 16 at the moment, just got my Local Leader perk so I can put more work into settlements. I’ve been mainly focusing on exploring each location and looting stuff so I can mod my guns!

  1. So excited for Fallout 4! I definitely was late on the Fallout train, so at least I have a lot of backlog to play through while I wait for the GOTY edition to come out (at a decent price).

    • Yippee, thanks for signing up Val! I think we'll do some sort of blogging event next year instead of once a month! Ooh interesting, I heard the ending was controversial to ME3! Can't wait for you to play F4!

I love yours posts when you talk about games! I'm not a HUGE gamer myself but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy getting lost into a good video game. I have the old consoles (Xbox and ps2) don't judge. teehee But I'm happy with them, you know? So, it's all good! I'm glad to see you're having so much fun with this! <3

Joining this month! I haven't played any of these games but I heard a lot about Fallout 4, everyone is obsessed with it 🙂

    • You can sign up for the email alerts next year Josie – we're hoping on doing a blog tour of some sort or an event, so it's less commitment! Fallout 4 is so much fun!

  4. Did you say Steam Sale?? *heads over to Steam*
But yeah, I have the same issue, I collect so many games because I'm always on the lookout for sales but never get around to them D: I'm on my second playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition while playing through Mass Effect 2 for the first time, and I do have to say it's really fun! I just started through so I still love the first one. Like you, I like all the choices you get to make. I snagged Fallout New Vegas for $2.50 when Amazon had their Black Friday sale but have yet to start it. Haven't played Starcraft yet either, I'll have to look into it!

    • Man so disappointing, I've been waiting for the steam sale but it hasn't come up yet! I'm exactly the same, it's a bit like collecting books really. I can't wait to play ME2 and Dragon Age Inquisition! I think I'll be playing Fallout 4 for a long time though. WOW that is a fantastic sale for New Vegas! I actually started playing but then decided it was going to take too long so I stopped XD

    Have fun!
I'm not a gamer, but I do enjoy the posts. At least I'm getting acquainted with these things.

  6. Tory

I have seen several videos of people playing Fallout 4 and I am tempted, but I'm not sure if it'll affect me as much as other first-person games (have motion sickness, so it's tough for me to play first-person in long sittings)…

But! I really want to get Mad Max the game, one of my tops on the wishlist. I would say FF too, but then I haven't even finished my FFXIII from before, lmfao. I've just been more into short-stage games recently. 😀

    • It is so much fun Tory! If you can't play FPS you can actually switch the view to over the shoulder (like Mass Effect). I know what you mean, that's what I love the Telltale Games, you should give them a shot!

  7. samoak

Mass Effect would be on my list too. I'm in the same boat as you, I already have so many games stockpiled on Steam that I haven't gotten around to playing through yet…but I'll probably still buy more.

I'm looking to get Deadpool, Bioshock, Oddworld and maybe a Final Fantasy since I haven't played one of those in forever.

    • Lol I've been checking for the Steam summer sale but I'm actually surprised it hasn't come up yet! Hopefully it comes up during Christmas! Oooh yesss I completely agree with Bioshock, I loved the first and 3rd games! (the 2nd was too similar to the first)
