I know you’ve missed me, so it’s time for another Indulgence Insider! YAYYY!

So there’s been a reason for my radio silence – WE HAVE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! YAYYY! It’s been super stressful organising all the documents in time and paying for all the things that keep popping up during the process, but it’s all happening. It’s such a relief to finally have a place where we can call our own, kind of makes working worth it you know? Anyway, we move in on the 16th of July which I’m super excited about! Trust me I’ve already been planning my dream wall to floor bookshelves and study, watch this space 🙂

Quick Reader Survey

It’s Happy Indulgence’s 4th blogoversary coming up later this month! We’ve got a whole celebration and lots of giveaways planned for that week. You can be part of it too! Just let me know below what your favourite thing about Happy Indulgence is to be featured in the post!

Book Haul

Bought

Last weekend I went to the Lifeline Bookfest – for those who’ve been following along for a while, you know I often get huge hauls there! It was totally worth getting up early on both days of the weekend to head down. Find out what goodies I got below!

I also purchased The Devious Dr Jekyll by Viola Carr  at a bargain bookstore – I loved the first book in this Hyde/Jekyll gender switch and can’t wait to read the next!

Reading Update

whenwecollided becomingkirrali

I’ve been reading lots of contemporary YA lately and it’s not my go to genre, so I think I’m getting tired of it again.

– When We Collided – I read this because of Jenna’s positive thoughts but I just couldn’t connect to Vivi. 3 stars.
– Becoming Kirrali Lewis – I loved the diversity and the narration, but I was frustrated at the snobbish main character. 3 stars.

  1. *waits at airport for Shannon and puts Chaos Walking books in safe, but buys Shannon a limited edition Hunger Games set*

Ooohhh I'm really looking forward to reading Shadows, I've been saying that for years but I've heard good things! And Ashes, oooh very exciting! I can't wait to read Words in Deep Blue, everyone is going crazy for it hehe. Uhhh glad to hear you liked Girl out of water, I had no idea it was the same book1 Thank you Shannon, there have been a lot of tears and tantrums but I think I'll get there…soon 😛

  2. Cyn @ Bookmunchies

YAAAY! Congratulations on your new home!! I definitely can't wait to see the wall(s) of bookshelves, haha!
Oh great haul! I do love great bargain books. I need to start The Name of the Wind still, it's been sitting on my shelf for a while now. Hope you enjoy all your new books!!
My recent post Review: Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes

    • Thank you Cyn, I'm so excited to do it up like how I've dreamed lol! I tried to start Name of the Wind but that small text killed me XD

  3. It is so awesome that you have your own house now, Jeann! And the fact that you have bookshelf ideas is so EXCITING. I demand lots of pictures once it happens 😀

It was so awesome catching up at Bookfest – like always. We got such good hauls for such awesome prices! I cannot wait until the next one.

Ohmygosh that is a massive review books haul :O Good luck with getting through them all, lovely!

    • I know Chiara! I can't wait until I move in and set up my own space, it's going to be awesome! I had a great time catching up at bookfest like always definitely! Me too except at this time I never want to buy another book again omg the packing trauma. Thanks hun! I NEED IT.

  4. Congratulations on the new house Jeann! So exciting! I don't envy you having to pack and move though, it nearly killed me when we had to do it. Not only did we have a massive moving truck filled to the brim, but 7 trailer loads and another 5 car loads of stuff too. I bought far too much before we moved and still getting rid of half of it almost six years later. Four years is such an amazing achievement! Looking forward to seeing your blogoversary post, I love seeing others achievements, it makes me determined to aim higher <3

    • Thank you Kelly, it's really exciting but yes, there have been a few tears on this end! The only thing keeping me going is Pokemon Go hahaha. Holy shit, that is a lot of stuff! My whole house is taken over by all these cardboard boxes at the moment, we've had to do a few runs to get empty ones. Mostly because of the books. Anyway, thank you Kelly!

  5. Congratulations on the new house! It's so exciting to get a place that you can paint walls and make changes without having to worry about landlords! I haven't checked out the Viola Carr books but they look interesting. Adding to my TBR. Have a great week!
My recent post This Week in Reading – July 3

    • Thank you Katherine! We're definitely excited to finally have a place to make our own! Glad to hear, I really enjoyed the first Viola Carr book! You too.

    • Thank you Annika! I'm definitely excited but it's super stressful at the same time! I'll be relieved once we're all settled and move in. Lifeline bookfest was lots of fun definitely! Yeah, Vivi was a frustrating character.

  6. NP Cait! Thank you, we are super excited about it finally! After this I am never moving again omg. THERE ARE SO MANY BOOKS TO MOVE IT IS INSANE. I love how the covers match though for The Ship! Yeah, a shame about When we collided…I'm glad you enjoyed the book Cait!

  7. Thanks Lauren, I'm super excited! Yeah, I'm glad it's supporting a great cause so I don't feel too bad about hoarding there you know? Glad to hear you've enjoyed the author's others books! I haven't read any of hers yet.

  8. Grace @ RebelMommyBB

Congrats on the house!!! Such an exciting time for you! Great haul. Sorry to see you didn't like When We Collided more. I just got that one last week so we will see. I am not reading the series anymore but I think the cover for King's Cage is so not cute. So disappointing after two really great ones. Have a great week!!
My recent post Weekly Rewind ~ 7.3.16

    • Thank you Grace, we're super excited about it! Yeah, I think I've got the contemporary blues so I need to mix it up and read some favourites now. I know, everyone is definitely on par about the King's Cage cover. You too lovely!

  9. Yay, Jeann! Congrats on the new home. I'm excited you found something. I know how rough this journey has been for you. Can't wait to see that study with all the book shelves. 🙂
You got some terrific books this week. I just read Aentee's review for When Michael Met Mina and I NEED. It sounds amazing and powerful.
Oh every time I see that cover for King's Cage, I cringe. It's so ugly. Now A Crown of Wishes though? Gorgeous! Too bad I couldn't get into the first book.
I hope you have a wonderful week and happy reading and good luck with the move! 🙂
My recent post The Weekly Recap (197) & June Monthly Recap

    • Thank you so much Nick! I am so glad we waited for the right one to come along because it is absolutely perfect! I'm so glad it's finally all happening finally. Will definitely take pics once it's up! I'm so excited that you're into the Aussie YA now, it makes me super happy to hear that we're making it overseas! Yeah, I'm totally over that series tbh. Have a lovely week ahead, too! <3

  10. Congrats on the house! That has to be so exciting!

Have I been living under a rock though? I had no idea about Ilvermorny! Definitely gonna go find out my house tonight 😛 And I love that cover for The Ship Beyond Time!

    Have a great week 🙂

  11. Rachel Lightwood

Congrats on the new house,Jeann! It must be so, so exciting to have a place all to yourselves and the paperwork all done and out of the way. I look forward to seeing pics of your new bookshelves/study area. You should totally film/YouTube the process!

And woah, what a great haul. I wish Lifeline would come down to my state. I just know I'd go crazy with my haul too! Plus there were sooooo many cover releases this week. I cannot deal knowing that I'm going to have to buy so many pretty new releases in the future. I'm going to be broke!
My recent post {Rachel’s Reading Updates} The Orphan Queen Duology by Jodi Meadows
