When I was in Brisbane a few weeks ago, Jeann and I filmed the Unpopular Opinions Tag for the Happy Indulgence booktube channel. I’m also going to list three popular books that I haven’t enjoyed as much as everyone else.

3 Popular Books That I Didn’t Love
And here are three books that I wasn’t as in love with as everyone else:
1. The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry – My Review
I found this book to be beyond confusing. I didn’t really understand the parallel universes and thought that the whole concept was too hard to wrap my head around. The entire explanation for the novel occurred within the last 4 pages of the book, making it even more confusing. I was also strongly against all the psychological aspects in the book because I found them to be largely inaccurate and a violation of good scientific research. You can read my full thoughts on this in my review (linked above).
2. The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury – My Review | Jeann’s Review
I read this one a while ago and found it to be really underwhelming. I thought that the plot was boring and that the characterisation was lacking. There was nothing really for me to latch on to, and the romance was also underwhelming and lacking in chemistry. Jeann, however, really enjoyed it so that goes to show that we can have different opinions of the same book.
3. Heartless by Marissa Meyer – My Review | Jeann’s Review
I have no words for how disappointed I was with Heartless. The Lunar Chronicles is still one of my favourite series and I was so looking forward to her first book post-TLC. Sadly, it was pretty underwhelming and I couldn’t connect with it one bit. I have yet to read Renegades but I am praying that it isn’t a disappointment too (though I do know that Jeann wasn’t a fan).
And that’s it from me. I hope you enjoyed the video and the three popular books that I did not like.

I’ve actually just got around to watching the video. You two are such a charming pair of commenters! Just one suggestion for next time – perhaps a brief description of what th books are about for those who haven’t read them? I’d heard of them all(teacher librarian, right?), but not read them all. But a fun theme!
And whose wonderful, tidy book case is that behind you? I wouldn’t dare show mine on YouTube!
Ooh thanks for the feedback! I’ll pass that along to Jeann! And yesss her bookshelf is GOALS!

I absolutely love this! It’s really interesting to see what similar readers you both are, even choosing different books and characters. I loved the Throne of Glass series for the first few but when it switched to new adult with the toxic masculinity and these dreadful sex scenes, good grief it got messy. For me it was Red Rising. Normally that would be a book I’d be all over but I’ve tried reading it twice with absolutely no luck. I’m planning on trying again soon. Third time will either be a charm or I’ll launch it out the window. On fire. So lovely seeing you both together, really enjoyed it and giggled along <3

Haha I had lots of trouble with Red Rising as well but when I pushed through it ended up being amazing. It was really intense though so I haven’t picked up the second one yet. I’m still recovering from the first.

Love this tag and what a fun video. As far as the three popular books you didn’t love – I have two on my TBR so I will have to see where I fall on them still!!
I’d be super keen to hear your thoughts!

Let’s be frank here – LOTS of people enjoyed them! I realise I’m in the minority here.
I completely agree! I think we all have different opinions which is wonderful.
Why am I not surprised at this whole post, and the video? Loool 😀 Also, I am here for the ACOMAF rage (oops, #sorrynotsorry)
LOL probably because you know us too well now hahaha
Divergent. I read the first book, didn’t mind it, but didn’t enjoy it enough to read the rest. Also Sarah Maas Throne Of Glass. I read the first, thought, “Meh!” and didn’t bother with the sequels. I bought them anyway, for my library, because the kids loved them – the girls did, anyway. I guess they weren’t for adults like me.
Yeah, those are both some pretty hyped books! I can see why some people would enjoy them though.
