Animal Crossing Book Tag

April 30, 2020 by Jenna | Books, Features

I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons non-stop since it came out in March and when Jeann pointed out this book tag to me, I knew I had to do it. I wasn’t tagged by anybody but oh well.

The Animal Crossing Book Tag was created by McKenzie @ Bookish Things and Tea. The graphics in this post were all created by her, besides the blog post header (which is a screenshot from my own ACNH island).

The rules

  • Please link back to the original creator of the tag, Bookish Things and Tea.
  • Answer the following Animal Crossing themed book questions.
  • Feel free to use McKenzie’s graphics, but please don’t take credit for them.
  • Tag some friends to spread the love!

For me, I’ve always wanted to read 1984 by George Orwell but have never had the chance to pick it up. I think I own two different editions of the book but there have just always been other books that have interested me more. I’m hoping to finally get to it this year (or maybe try to listen to it on audio while I play Animal Crossing).

So many series suffer from second book syndrome so you’d think this would be a hard question. But this is honestly a no-brainer for me. I love love love The Infernal Devices by Cassie Clare and Clockwork Prince is definitely a worthy choice for this question. Not to mention, the series just gets better and Clockwork Princess is one of my favourites of all time.

Gosh, I wish I could say The Infernal Devices for this one too but I’m going to switch it up and go with A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. A Little Life is a book that I’ve only read once because of its sheer size and the emotional impact it had on me. It’s set in New York City and revolves around the life of 4 men throughout the decades, particularly Jude who is really the main character. This book is truly an emotional journey.

Going back to my love of the Shadowhunters Chronicles again… I’m going to have to say that Chain of Gold by Cassie Clare has been my favourite read of 2020 so far. I love being back in the London Institute and seeing all of my beloved characters from The Infernal Devices again. Plus, the new cast of younger Shadowhunters definitely already have my heart. I cannot wait for Chain of Iron.

The one book that I will never get sick of reading and has been a constant reread for me throughout the past almost 20 years is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It’s my favourite of the entire series and I just think that it’s such a well constructed book. Not to mention, the movie is equally well done and it’s the one Harry Potter movie that I always want to rewatch.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo has the most wonderfully rich cast of characters. Each one of the characters were unique and their personalities all stood out to me in some way. Of course, I love Kaz and Nina, but I love Inej, Matthias, Wylan and Jesper almost just as much. They all hold a special place in my heart and I would jump at the chance to read a book about the 6 of them again.

Oh gosh. There are so many books that I would never mind seeing again that I don’t really know how to choose. I’d certainly like to never see another Sarah J. Maas book, but I have to say that I did enjoy the first 5 books of the Throne of Glass series. I had to go into my Goodreads and sort by star rating for this one…. and I think I’ve decided on New Moon by Stephenie Meyer for this one. I didn’t mind the other books in the series all that much but New Moon can go into my discard pile.

Not only is All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr my favourite historical fiction book, it’s just my favourite book of all time. I’ve harped on and on about this book for years so I’m going to spare you all for now. If you like WWII historical fiction and beautiful prose, just pick this one up. Trust me.

I tag everyone! Please share your love of books/Animal Crossing.

Thinking of taking the leap and downloading Animal Crossing on my phone…
(unfortunately I don’t have a Switch to play the actual game hehe)

Anyway, love your list as always (and the great references to Cassie Clare’s books). It’s funny you mention New Moon, seeing as Meyer released her new book in that series recently. Will you try picking that one up?

    • I heard that the Switch is sold out everywhere! But please join the Animal Crossing cult – I’ve honestly played non-stop since New Horizons came out.

Lmao you could not pay me enough to read Midnight Sun. Though lbr, I’ll probably end up hate-reading it.

    • Ooh I didn’t know there was more than one Animal Crossing book tag – I’m going to go off and find all of them now! My next few posts will all be Animal Crossing book tags haha (you don’t know what you’ve done!). I’m so predictable when it comes to my book tag responses hehe.

    • Thanks very much Tracey! I can’t take any credit for the graphics in this post – they’re all from the original tag creator. There really isn’t anything better than a reread of Prisoner of Azkaban in my opinion (or a rewatch of the movie). The time turner scenes are just so well done.
