Missing Review: Pros and Cons of Creepers in the Woods

The Good Things

• A Kelley Armstrong novel! She’s one of my favourite authors and I’m terribly behind on her novels, especially her newer YA stuff. They’re all really entertaining.
• Standalone YA thriller.
• Pacing starts off nice and fast. I couldn’t put it down.
• The villain likes to taunt Winter and it’s really creepy and terrifying. Which is entirely the point of thrillers.
• We got to know the characters on a deeper level than I was expecting for a relatively short standalone novel. Especially Jude!
• Everything wraps up really nicely and the epilogue is perfect.

The Not-So-Good Things

• Because it’s a standalone that is set over 4-5 days there are elements of the plot that aren’t explored as thoroughly as I would have liked. I would have loved more foreshadowing and set up for a few plot reveals.
• The pacing does slow down in the middle. I didn’t mind it too much because it was there that we got to learn more about the main characters, but it does pull away from the suspenseful nature of the mystery.

Kelley Armstrong is one of my favourite authors so I was really excited to jump into once of her new(ish) YA Thrillers. Missing was exactly what I was expecting. Short and creepy, it’s a great YA thriller.
