From the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series comes a new blockbuster series...

Two sisters. One brutal murder.A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself...And an intoxicating romance.

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe - witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family's renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin...desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister's killer and to seek vengeance at any cost—even if it means using dark magic that's been long forbidden.

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked—princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia's side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women's murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems...

The Good Things

  • I knew I would enjoy this one. I’m glad it lived up to my expectations.
  • Upper YA/ NA historical fantasy.
  • Wrath is my favourite. His sarcasm and banter was beautiful.
  • Slow-burn enemies-to-lovers who can’t help but antagonise each other as they work together. I loved the banter and tension.
  • I appreciated the slower burn romance. My favourite romances develop over the course of multiple books so I’m looking forward to seeing how things unfold.
  • The lore was so interesting! And the supernatural world was bigger than I expected. I thought it would just be witches and demons but there is so much more!
  • The mystery was really interesting. I figured out a few things, but a lot took me by surprise. I still have questions and can’t wait to see where it goes.

The Not-So-Good Things

  • It did take me a little bit of time to get into the story, which probably had more to do with my mood than the book itself.
  • Saying that, it is quite a slow building mystery (which doesn’t bother me, but I know it’s not for some people).
  • I wish we’d uncovered a few more answers to elements of the mystery. I still have so many questions about Vittoria’s plans, the curse, and Wrath. But that’s what sequels are for.

As a surprise to no one, I really enjoyed this one. I liked the mystery and loved the supernatural world. I’m super keen to explore more and get more answers in the sequels. I’m especially keen for more Wrath.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Bec is an Aussie blogger and reader who loves all types of novels. Fantasy, sci fi, and historical are my usual go-to genres. If I’m not binge reading, I’m usually gaming, trying to take decent photos for bookstagram, or freaking out about silly things.
