Indulgence Insider is our version of Stacking the Shelves, Bought, Borrowed & Bagged and the Sunday Post, bringing you this week’s haul, bookish news and discussion posts from around the blogosphere!

Wow, so much has happened since my last update! Since I like lists, and I’m assuming you like lists:

1. My full interview for Holly Black and Cassandra Clare is out! Check it out here! Cassandra Clare commented on my interview:

cassclaretwitter

2. My booktube video on loving Aussie YA and my favourite Aussie YA authors is up.

3. I reached 600 followers on Facebook and 100 followers on Youtube!

4. Things have settled down since this post, and I’m making some changes to cope with things better. One of these include using my weekly planner more effectively, trying to have a more positive mindset and not wearing myself down when things get rough.

5. I’ll also be reducing my blogging schedule to 3 times a week instead of 4 times a week.

6. It’s Spring and my favourite season and I’m also back to my 5km runs on the weekend! My first time back after 3 months, I made PB (34.50 minutes in 5km which I’m pretty proud of!)

7. When this post is up, I’ll be at OzComicCon meeting Jim Beaver and Mark Sheppard (Bobby & Crowley from Supernatural!). Also watching the panel for Evanna Lynch & Robbie Jarvis (Luna Lovegood & James Potter)!

8. I’m going to PAX Australia in Melbourne for the 3rd year running, which means I’m coming your way Melbournites! I’ll probably organise a meetup, let me know if you’re keen!

9. Oh yeah, and Australia has a new Prime Minister – Malcolm Turnbull (thank god for that)

10. I finished my latest colouring drawing which took me 2 months on and off! The shading needs a lot of perserverance but I’m pretty chuffed with it:

Reading Update

mimeorder legacyofkings

  • The Mime Order was a fantastic follow-up to the first book! I loved the richly detailed clairvoyant world. It was slow though and took me 2 weeks to read. 4 stars.
  • Legacy of Kings was a rich historical reconstruction of Alexander the Great during his teenage years. I loved the setting and didn’t have a problem with the multiple povs. 4 stars.

Bookish News

  • Our beloved Throne of Glass series has been optioned for TV! SO EXCITING.
  • This wonderfully beautifully Harry Potter colouring book is up for preorder.
  • More illustrations have been released from the 1st Harry Potter illustrated edition! It’s sooo gorgeous.
  • Holly Black has signed a new trilogy with Hot Key Books called The Folk of the Air.
  • Illuminae launches are being held in Melbourne and Sydney, with authors Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman in attendance!
  • The Official 5th Wave Trailer is out:

  • The Allegiant Teaser Trailer is out, featuring more overdone CG 🙁

  • The Mockingjay Part 2 trailer:

Geek & Gamer News

  • Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void has a release date – November 10! THe same release date as Fallout 4! It’s a hard choice but I’ve been a Starcraft girl through and through and I need to keep on top of the multiplayer ladder, so I know what I’ll be choosing.
  • As if multiple collector’s editions weren’t enough, the next Fallout 4 hype release is the Merch Bundle, so you’ll be prepared to enter the vault when it’s released:

    • Hehe yeah, there was definitely a lot to catch up on! I get worried that I'm going to muck up my colouring or something (perfectionist here) but I mean at the end of the day it just blends in.

  1. I AM SO HAPPY you got to interview both of those authors, Jeann! 😀 I read your interview and cracked up at 'the small town of Brisbane'. I am sure they understood 😉

I am also glad you have found a way to cope with things in a better! 🙂 I think blogging does have a tendency to sometimes take over your life and I am feeling that even more now since vacation is over. It's why i decided to give myself a week off to get used to things and then dive back in and see how things are going to work out for me. I hope I can still be activeee! It's so hard to juggle things sometimes :/

I hope that the rest of your week goes fantastically, hon <3 I MISSED YOUR FACE (for that one week I wasn't here)

My recent post [Blog Tour]: Nightfall by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinksi

    • Hahah oh dear it was pretty embarrassing Rashika! Anyway it wouldn't be a Jeann interview without embarrassing myself! Yeah, I completely agree, I just felt so out of touch and it made me sad when I thought I needed to go on a break. Luckily there is another way around it. I MISS YOU TOO hun <3 so glad we have snapchat!

  2. Woah, girl, looks like you had an amazing week!:) You're so lucky that you got a chance to meet Cassandra Clare and Holly Black! They sound like really cool people!

I am so glad you enjoyed Legacy of Kings! I loved the book, and I was so sad that no one appreciated the book as much as I expected people to do. Plus Eleanor Herman is such a sweet author and person!
My recent post A girl who walks dreams || Dreamland by Robert L.Anderson

    • It was definitely an amazing time MIshma! I liked Legacy of kings too, I can kind of see why people didn't love it because of the multiple povs but I just LOVED the setting!

  3. rlsharpe

I've been sick lately so I was forced to take a break from blogging, but I think it was what I needed because I was getting stressed too. It is important to take care of yourself and find life balance. You need to make your real relationships priority and not focus so much on virtual ones. Everyone understands if you don't reply to comments straight away, or don't post as much. You need to do what's best for you.

Wow, you got to interview Holly Black and Cassandra Claire, that is so cool! I got to meet Holly Black, but not Cassandra, which was a bit disappointing, but Holly was so nice. Great interview.

Excellent youtube video. I really need to read Jay Kristoff and Clare Zorn, I have their books on my shelf but haven't gotten around to reading them yet. I love Jessica, Rebecca, and Rachel too.

You've got some great review copies there. And wow that firewalker one is so different from the first, it is so annoying when publishers do that.

Thanks for sharing those trailers, I hadn't seen them yet.
My recent post Review: Queen Of Shadows By Sarah J. Maas

    • Oh dear, I hope you get well soon Rochelle. THank you so much for your support! It was a fantastic interview, Holly is just so wonderful. I love their books! We have so many amazing Aussie authors. I know right, I wonder why it doesn't even have the title on the front!

  4. aentee @ read at midnight

I need that Harry Potter colouring book in my life, oh my goodness! I am really looking forward to hear what you think of The Fire Sermon, I really enjoyed the concept but some of the execution leaves things to be desired. I love Joe Abercrombie's Shattered Sea series, though! This post reminds me I have to get onto reading Half A War! The Next Together also looks so amazing! I NEED IT.

AND OMG ToG TV!! I AM NERVOUS AND EXCITED ALL AT ONCE 😀

    • I completely agree Aentee, as if I don't have enough colourin books hehe. I read your review for TFS, looking forward to it! I need to get the edition of Half a War that matches mine 😀

  5. Romi

The HP colouring book has me majorly intrigued! So long as the art that one has to colour in is fabulous, which I'm sure it will be, I'm in- 100%. And TOG being optioned for TV! Mega yay! I actually think it being a TV series would be better than a movie, possibly, because there's so much detail to cover and I think TV can do that, being able to work on and up to it longer, better, often, than film. For this series I think it's a great choice! Can't wait to hear more news on that!!! (Obviously, from me, it warrants all the exclaimations.)

I haven't been watching the Divergent films, but I did watch the trailer and find the growth of Tris's hair to be slightly amusing. Film one: very long. Two: very short. Three: bob. I mean, there's no way it's realistic, in the time between the films, but eh. I guess I pick up on those kind of things and aren't a huge fan.

Your all green bookish photography is so beautiful. I loved it the moment I saw it on IG. xx
My recent post Dumplin' by Julie Murphy… MY FAVOURITE READ OF 2015!

    • I know, I am loving how there are so many awesome colouring books coming out! I hope it will be amazing as well! I completely agree, sometimes movies can be so disappointing because they omit or cram too much in. Hahah yeah it's hilarious because the 2nd film follows on straight after the first – and she actually had to mimick cutting her hair in the film. Thanks Romi! <3

  6. danielleisbusyreading

Gosh, I could look at Theo James every day LOL.
Great haul! So many new books! I hope you enjoy all of them. And I'm right there with you on reducing my blogging schedule.. I've taken a big break this month and it's felt really good. I hope it'll be what you need too!

    • SO COULD EYE. He's definitely easy on the eyes 😉 Unfortunately I was so put off Insurgent I don't think I'll watch the rest of the series. Glad to hear the break has helped!

  7. Grace @ RebelMommyBB

Oh I love me a list!!! Yay on the followers! I have been thinking of calming down my blog schedule since I have been getting stressed out. Your coloring is amazing!! I am working on one again after a bit off. Lots of new books! Enjoy them and have a great week!

  8. Sounds like you've had a busy but productive week Jeann! How amazing that you got the opportunity to interview Holly Black and Cassandra Clare – definitely going to have to check that out. I've heard nothing but glowing things about One and I personally really enjoyed The Walled City, so I'm curious to see what you think of those two. 🙂 Thanks for sharing Jeann and, as always fabulous recap! <3

  9. Maraia

Wow, that coloring book page is amazing! How do you have so much patience? I would probably get distracted after 5 seconds, haha.

  10. That's awesome that you got to interview those two authors. It sounds like it was an epic moment in your book lover life! 😀
I'm glad that you're taking steps to make blogging less stressful. I went through this phase of stress too with the blog a few years ago, but took a broke and it definitely helped me. And even if you reduce your posting days a week, people will still visit you.
The 5th Wave movie actually looks good and I'm looking forward to watching it. First, I need to read the book though.
Allegiant looks so bad though. I was telling my friend Nereyda how fake everything it looked. Definitely too much freaking CGI. I'm glad I hated the first movie and didn't watch the rest.
Happy reading, Jeann and have a lovely week!
My recent post Mini Reviews : Doing It for Love by Cassie Mae & When the Stars Align by Jeannette Grey

    • It was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity, so much fun! So glad to have your support and everyone else's. It definitely helps. I need to read the 5th Wave too! Let me know if you want to buddy read before the movie comes out. Yeah, I'm not keen on the Allegiant movie. I think I'm done with it.

  11. Wow there you have a lot going on on here! I like it! I think this is my first visit. But I'm enjoying #bookstagram. I'm trying to figure out how to get good picks of the books i'm reading since I pretty much only read eBooks on my iPad.

  12. I'm so glad it's settling down for you Jeann, you know I'm going through a massive slump as well and I've totally neglected the blog which I really feel bad about, but sometimes you just have to take some time for yourself and how eventful that time off is! I really need to try and do those coloring books, maybe it will help get my creative juices flowing. Congrats on reading your milestone followers Jeann! 🙂
My recent post Let’s Catch Up #2: Hello Massive Slump!

    • OH man, I still need to view your video Amir! I hope you get the groove back soon. I think everyone's feeling the same lately. Definitely do pick up a colouring book, it's therapeutic!

  13. I'm glad things have calmed down for you since your Be Kind to Yourself post, Jeann 🙂
You're very busy, I'm in awe of your running! Way to go 🙂 I'm happy if I'm able to walk 10000 steps every day – I don't like running. But I really should get back into some sort of workout schedule…
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading!
My recent post The Sunday Post #50 – London with my Honey

    • Thanks Lexxie, I realised part of looking after myself was to keep exercising. The first time I ran, I was huffing and puffing and barely made it through, but it's great to build up your fitness! Have a lovely week too.

    • I know, I'm looking forward to seeing it – I saw on Instagram that there was an Alice in Wonderland too! Oh man, I just don't know why they changed it. I didn't like any of the covers actually…Thanks Pili, it seems to be working out well!

  14. Ohhh your colouring is looking gorgeous. xD And I enjoyed reading that interview with Cassandra Clare and Holly Black! THEY SEEM SUCH NICE PEOPLE.
Australian politics is just getting crazier each year. >_> Can't say I'm weeping over Abbott though, omg, that dude. Grr.
AND THIS REMINDS ME…I haven't even seen Insurgent yet. GEE. I need get onto this. 😛

  15. Rachel Lightwood

Wow, that picture with Cassie Clare is priceless. Love it! I'll definitely be checking out your interview. What an opportunity for you, eh!? 🙂

Oh, and don't even get me started of the Trial of Fire / Firewalker cover and title changes… *Hulk rages*

And I am so happy for you that you've found a better blogging schedule for yourself. Its worth the time to step back and prioritize everything. This time of year can get so, so crazy and can get a little too much at times. Glad to hear your are feeling better! And congrats on the blog stats and that colouring – beautiful!
My recent post {Mirror Mirror} Memory Keys, Maze Runners & Mountains of Books

    • Thanks Rachel, it was a wonderful opportunity definitely! OH man, I know about the cover right? It's definitely worth it, especially when you run out of energy/need time to recurperate later in the year. Thank you lovely!

  16. I am really glad that you have decided to take care of yourself first and foremost. In the grand scheme of things, one day won't feel like a huge difference to the readers, but will mean a TON for your sanity! Congrats on the followers, and the interview! That is seriously so amazing!

Can we please talk about Allegiant for a moment? I didn't know the trailer was even out but… it looks really boring. Kind of like the book 😉 But no, it's like all flashback and then… running around. It's like a formula: Run, climb, kiss, run, scream, repeat. Yawn. I DO like Tris's hair. (Also, I just read your review of Allegiant to make sure you also hated it. The "fuck this shit" gif made my day!)

Also on the fence about The 5th Wave, but I'll give it a shot I guess. Same with Throne of Glass, I guess I am just… scared about that one! But also kind of excited. Too many emotions 😉

And yay books! I liked The Fire Sermon, though I don't know if a lot of people did. I also really liked One (though I agree, your cover IS better!). And I am so excited for The Next Together!

But what is up with Firewalker? Is it called "Witches Do Not Die Quietly"? Seriously, who approved of this!? I know they changed the US covers too, but not like THIS! Anyway, I hope you love all the new books either way, but man, that is confusing!
My recent post This Week At Midnight (79)

    • Woah Shannon this is a massive comment, thank you so much! Yeah, that's true, I mean it's not like the readers will disappear if we don't blog for a day or a week. Yeah, I was just a bit meh about the Allegiant trailer, I probably won't see it in the cinemas. .It looks just so different from the book and filled with crappy CGI. I am feeling the same as you when it comes to the ToG series…I hope it's good. Not sure about Fire Sermon, I read some GR reviews on it. Nah, it's not called Witches Do Not Die Quietly, that's just the quote on the cover strangely…it doesn't even match the first cover :S

    • OH YEAH! Look at me go! I totally got in first, so now I can comment properly. What an awesome photo! That's a once in a almost lifetime kind of opportunity right there. You should make a collage of all your 'celebrity' photos you've taken, gosh there's been so many in the last few years. I hear you about cutting back too, I haven't read anything in days actually and just can't seem to get into it lately. The weather is starting to warm up and although you wouldn't catch me running unless it's behind an ice cream truck, it's too nice to just sit and be at the moment. I'm glad you're taking a step back though for your own sanity. It's funny how we all look cool and calm on the surface, but our little duck legs are frantic under the water just trying to stay afloat. What do you think of Armada so far?
My recent post Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar

      • Lol congrats on being the first Kelly! You're hilarious XD I should definitely do that, I still need to frame the Orlando Bloom one so I can hang it up somewhere. LOL about the ice cream truck. That's so true! I think rest and relaxation makes all the difference. I'm really liking it, but it's kind of like "let's shove as many geek references in here as possible". Hopefully it's good.
