Booktube Video: Raving & Ranting in my December Recap

January 2, 2016 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books, Features, Videos

Happy New Year everyone! Thank you to all the friends, followers, publishers, authors who have supported Happy Indulgence! I wish you an awesome new year with lots of success, books and happiness!

During December, I read 10 books to finish the year. Lots of these have been on my TBR for a long time, so I’m glad I finally picked them up! A mixed bag with some great reads and others which weren’t so great.

Sorry about the dodgy camera quality – I dropped and broke my beloved camera that I used for filming, so I had to use my phone. I’m excited to get my first DSLR!

December Book Haul

Compared to previous months I slowed down on the hoarding, so I could enjoy books on my TBR!

Thanks to Pan Macmillan Australia and Harlequin Enterprises for the review copies of Beautiful Broken Things and Firstlife.

And to my co-bloggers, Jenna and Aila for the Christmas gifts, The Weight of Feathers & My Life Next Door!Ā

  1. EEP, I really need to read Six of Crows! Although now I am a little scared to because everyone has loved it so much, so I will probably go in expecting it to be the best book ever *hides*

Are the Walking Dead comic worth reading? I've been contemplating starting them, but they are SO EXPENSIVE OMG. But still, I love that show a lot, so maybe it would be fun to read the comics!

That Darth Vader is so adorable!! I want one šŸ˜€

Also, good luck with finding your new camera, if you haven't already! I have been contemplating starting a BookTube, but I think I would be a bit awkward and probably swear too much, haha XD

    Happy New Year, lady!
I'm soooo glad you loved Six of Crows so much. I am DYING for the sequel.
Sad Wrath got only 3 stars – I haven't read it yet, but I'm definitely trying to temper my expectations.
Very curious to see what you'll think of Firstlife!

  4. Nikki Wang

AHHH I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE WRATH AND THE DAWN AND SIX OF CROWS. Sorry you didn't love the romance in Wrath, but AHHHH YAY I'M GLAD YOU LOVED SOC. SO SO AMAZING RIGHT

You got engaged?? omg, congratulations Jeann <3 That's AMAZING. (on another side note, where are you from? I'm curious because ahhh your accent. Would it be weird if I said I love your accent? Um. It probably is. *scurries off before there's more brainvomit*)

The Weight of Feathers and Firstlife have the most gorgeous covers, I'm excited to see how they turn out.

Congratulations on your engagement, Jeann, that is wonderful news. Good luck with all the wedding plans. And Happy New Year. Sounds like you have some great reads. I hope 2016 turns out to be a wonderful year for you.

  7. Great month, Jeann. Mine wasn't as great. I barely read any books – the month was spectacularly hectic and this even with a week off from work. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on these books!

My December was good reading wise. I managed to read 14 books, which is pretty average. Six of Crows was one of them and I loved it! Eleanor & Park is my favorite RR book, I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. The Martian made my top 2015 list, and My True Love Gave To Me was also a favorite December read.

  9. Ooooh First Life! That is one that I cannot WAIT to get my hands on! Same with Beautiful Broken Things! And I also got The Weight of Feathers for Christmas šŸ˜€

I love your thoughts on books, it's too funny! I am sad that you didn't really like Wrath though! I do see your points. I just, I don't know, liked it anyway hahha. Six of Crows was definitely good. I am VERY excited for you to read Ice Like Fire, because we had similar thoughts on Snow Like Ashes (and the same rating!) Hope you enjoy the new books, and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the December reads!
My recent post A Look Back, a Look Ahead: 2016

    • I'm looking forward to reading that – lots of great books for us to delve into! Yeah, I went into it a bit more in my full length review. I liked it but there were so many problems I had with it! Oooh interesting, have you read Ice Like Fire yet? What did you think of it? Thanks for watching Shannon!

  10. I also went to see new Star Wars in December (midnight premiere, I could not wait LOL) and I agree with what you said in your review. It was (surprisingly) very funny and witty. Harrison Ford and Chewie were perfect. And Kylo Ren is very unique and intriguing character and I have so many theories about him šŸ™‚ I really enjoyed whole movie.
    Congratulations on getting engaged, Jeann!

I will get to Six of Crows after Ruin and Rising and hopefully, I'll get the hype as you guys did šŸ˜‰
