The Reading Quest Sign Up and TBR

August 12, 2017 by Jenna | Books

Hi everyone! Long time no blog. I’ve been away on hiatus because of a personal issue but I’m slowly crawling my way back. Jeann and I haven’t really been reading much because she’s busy with wedding planning (not long to go now!) and I’ve been in the biggest reading slump of my life! We thought the perfect way to get back into reading and blogging might be to take part in Aentee @ Read at Midnight’s exciting video game-inspired reading challenge that begins tomorrow.

The reading challenge runs for three weeks, from August 13th to September 10th, and there is a quest board of prompts. For the full list of rules, check out Aentee’s original post! Jeann and I aren’t going to be competing for the awesome prize that will be awarded to the player with the highest level and HP, so we’ll be joining forces to tackle the quest board and motivate each other to read. Where is Aila, you ask? Well, she is currently busy packing and getting ready for a new chapter in her life: college!

Jenna’s TBR

I’m going to be tackling the mage path, so these are the books that I will be reading:

A book with a one word title: Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

A book that contains magic: A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

A book based on mythology: The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F. C. Yee

A book set in a different world: Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore

The first book of a series: Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Jeann’s TBR

Jeann will be completing the Knight path, and these are the books that she plans to read for her five prompts:

The first book of a series: Timekeeper by Tara Sim

A book with a verb in its title: Trust by Kylie Scott

A book with a weapon on its cover: Scythe by Neal Shusterman

A book with a red cover: The Ones that Disappeared by Zana Fraillon

A book that has a TV/movie adaptation: Unearthed by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

These are the books that we’ve planned to read for now but if we finish our quests early, we may venture into some sidequests! Let us know if you’re participating and which path you’re going to take!

  1. Both your TBRs are filled with awesome books! I loved Scythe and A Conjuring of Light, and I’m reading Strange the Dreamer for my mage task as well. Good luck!

  2. This reading challenge sounds like so much fun but my mood is all over the place these days so I never know what kind of book to pick up haha. I can’t wait to see what you think of A Conjuring of Light, Jenna. That book kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.
Trust is also a book that’s popped up on my radar so I’m excited to see what you think of it.
Good luck with the challenge. 😀

  3. This is my first challenge and I’m really happy to see so many people taking part! It’s such a cute idea and the art is adorable. A Conjuring of Light and Timekeeper are both books I read and loved this year so I hope you both enjoy them 😀 I’ve made a sign up post, but I was definitely over ambitious and have already changed my mind on the books I’m going to be reading.
I hope you both get to do all the reading you want to this month <3
