BookTube Video: August Wrap Up & September TBR

September 2, 2015 by Jeann @ Happy Indulgence | Books, Features, Videos

During the month of August, I focused on review copies for the August ARC Challenge. I didn’t do too badly, reading 10 books this month, 9 of which were ARCs. I recap the books I read during this month and share my thoughts on them, along with my September TBR.

You’ll have to excuse the lighting, I started filming around 4:30 pm and it started getting dark later in the video lol!

I've got Ink and Bone too! I'm on QOS right now (and am not allowing myself to look at reviews until it's all over, with about 250 pages to go. Basically, though: AELIN AND ROWAN! They need to buck up. And Chaol, in my opinion, needs to buck out. Pretty sure Cait, or someone else, said that Chaol and Dorian should be in a romance together, and this is basically perfect.) and can't help but feel like those other review books I need to get to are never going to be reached, but! I've only got three review copies on my shelf, so it should be manageable! They are being sorely neglected, though.

So excited for you to read Goodbye Stranger, Jeann! After your comment on my review on it, I'm really keen for you to read it and then to see what you think. I hope it's an excellent discovery, and that the consequences that the characters face are realistic and well done for you. Happy reading!xx

    • Oh my gosh, I hope you enjoy QoS Romi, it sounds like you are loving it! I totally know what you mean about the review books, don\’t worry I have a huge backlog as well. I\’m definitely keen on goodbye stranger now Romi! Thank you <3

  2. 5 stars to Uprooted! I really need to pick that one up. And soon. I've heard amazing things and it sounds like something I would definitely love.

Great reading month, Jeann! I hope September will be just as good, if not better. Love your September TBR. Most of it I can't wait to read myself especially Lair of Dreams. I waited years for it. Enjoy!

    • It was such a wonderful book Haraiah, definitely an unexpected new favourite! Thank you so much, I have lots of big books to tackle this month.

    • I'm looking forward to reading it Bec! Oh man, it's taken me a week to read The Mime order and I'm still not even half way…we'll see how I do this month o.O

So many awesome books mentioned! I have a few of these on my TBR but haven't had the chance to pick them up or buy them. I've had Mime Order since it came out but it's so big that I don't want to get caught up in it and forget my other books, but I need to get to it at some point. Armada is a lot of fun too.

You did a great job with your ARCs! Looks like you had a lot of great ones too! Love your fantasy TBR for September. I have Reawakened too but don't think I am getting to it this month so I look forward to hear what you think – Hae a great month ahead!

  5. GAH, I am so excited that you loved Queen of Shadows!!! I agree too that like, there are two books left so ships have a long way to go 😉 And Uprooted sounds SO GOOD. I am going to have to buy it myself I think soon. But not the U.S. edition because it isn't as pretty. You had a seriously great reading month! I am not hanging around to find out what you think about The Rest of Us Just Live Here, because I am reading it now, and I am sad about the 3 stars 🙁 But, my fingers are crossed that I will enjoy it more!

I haven't read ANY of your TBR books actually! But, I do hope you enjoy them and have an equally good month!

    • Oh my gosh, it was freaking amazing. The fandom is going crazy about it, some people hate what happened and others loving it. Man Uprooted is SO GOOD! I want to read it again lol. Yeah, The rest of us just live here was quite odd for me. Thank you Shannon, you too!

  6. Maraia

I'm excited for your September TBR! I read The Fixer last month and loved it. It's so addictive. I'm also super jealous that you have Lair of Dreams. My library doesn't seem to want to order it, haha. *waits impatiently*

I hope you have a wonderful September, girl! Looks like a lot of great books ahead for you. 🙂 I have to say that Ink and Bone is one of my favorite reads this year. 🙂

  8. So happy you'll be reading The Mime Order—it's a great book 🙂 I don't think I've read any of the others yet, but I really want to get to Lair of Dreams this month. I am SO happy it's finally out!

  9. Yaaas to a full month of fantasy, your choices looks amazing as well! I get burnout from contemporary as well, so it's always nice to take a break and read the fantasy books that I want to read.

Wonderful video as always. Woop woop to QoS!!! I need to start Potion Diaries soon, but I've heard some mixed reviews, glad you enjoyed it overall though!

    • I\’m so excited about these fantasy reads, it\’s my true love hehe. Thanks Joy! I did like Potion Diaries, it was a fun and refreshing surprise!

  10. Kara Terzis

You DID do well this month! 🙂 Eeep, SO glad you liked Queen of Shadows! Three days!? Not bad for such a massive book 😉 Okay, considering the hype and…okay, kinda negative things I've read about it, is making me SO NERVOUS. I'm going away to the UK in a week or so–and I'm TRYING to save it for the flight, but I don't know if I'm strong enough. haha. 😉 Lovely recap — I seriously love your vlogs <3 🙂
My recent post The Secret Life of a Book Blogger

    • Thank you so much for watching Kara! I know, it seems like the opinions are pretty divided on QoS! That would be the perfect time to read it, so you can\’t accidentally stumble upon spoilers and you\’ll have to just sit and read 😉
