I can’t believe it’s actually June already! In May, I got settled in my new job, visited Sydney Writer’s Festival and went to TeenCon, and there I met my co-blogger Jenna! It was an exhausting month with lots of late nights at work but I’m feeling like I’m getting my routine back.
I’m too exhausted to do a video today but hopefully will do one later in the month before I have to return my library books.
I’m really looking forward to the #OzYay radio show tonight on ABC radio, because I loved both of the books that we are covering – Summer Skin by Kirsty Eagar and A Tangle of Gold by Jaclyn Moriarty. If you have any questions for the authors, you can leave them on Facebook here, which they’ll answer live at 8pm AEST tomorrow. There’s going to be sport on live radio, so the best way to tune in will be online (Rhianna Patrick’s show) or via the ABC radio app at 7pm AEST (also handy if you’re outside Australia). Remember to tweet us at #ABCRhi.
Books I Read
This month, I read 12 books! I binged heaps of books in the past week, in an effort to read my library books before they need to be returned. I’ve had quite a few of these on my TBR for ages, so it felt good to finally tackle them. I also binged the Colours of Madeleine series by Jaclyn Moriarty, in time for the OzYay radio segment tonight. To my delight, it was such a wonderfully whimsical and charming series that is unique and memorable.

Book Haul
Review Copies
My book haul was out of control this month! I got the amazing books below from Aussie publishers, some were requested but most of them were unsolicited. Which ones have you read? I’m really excited about Nevernight and One Would Think the Deep!
Purchased/Gifted
Jenna gave me All the Bright Places and the Yearbook Committee, and also brought back Kindred Spirits from Aila. The rest I bought because of various book sales and because I couldn’t help myself. That’s a good excuse right?
What About Aila and Jenna?
Aila is almost finished with school and talks about all the amazing books she read!
Jenna shares a bit about her adventures in Florida and Sydney Writer’s Festival, and also the books she read in May.
How was your May?

Le sigh. I'm totally in the same boat as you, Jeann. I have way too many books. And yet, I can't. STOP.
YUP plus I have so many review copies and books I got from the library too that I rarely pick up books that I buy…it\’s a vicious cycle which I\’m sure you\’re familiar with!
May was not a bad month overall for sure, unfair bookish drama aside! Overly full of excitement books make us want to get a few more quite times though!
Happy reading Jeann!

Looks like you had a great month! I read a lot, but then I bought a lot of books too. My TBR pile is crushing me, but that's nothing new. Both All the bright places and The rose and the dagger are amazing books. I ugly cried with All the bright places.
My recent post May Wrap-Up!
Thanks Cynthia, I totally know about that crushing TBR pile but I\’m just happy with progress at this stage! I was bawling as well reading that lol.
Looks like May was pretty darn good to you. Except that pesky drama .. poo on that. lol. Hope June rocks for you.
My recent post Sunday Post #178 (6/5/16) – Hello June
Thanks Christy! I\’m putting that all behind me now and focusing on the positives 🙂
Reading twelve books in May is awesome, Jeann! 😀 And it seems like most of them were pretty good reads for you, which is great. I love that you loved The Colours of Madeleine. It is such a gorgeous series, and I adore it so much <3
YOU GOT SO MANY BOOKS. I don't know how you have any room left in your house, haha XD I swear you get more every month, but what is better to fill a house with other than books? Nothing, of course.
Ohmygosh, I really want to read Kindred Spirits! I hate that you can't get it anymore D: Let me know what you think, lovely!
I hope your June is filled with awesome reads, as well <3
I know, it must be a new record for me or something! I'm glad I finally picked up that series upon yours and Jenna's recommendation. Oh man, I had to give 3 bags of books away (donated to Lifeline and the library) because of that, I have NO more room lol! I will definitely let you know what I think of Kindred Spirits! You too lovely <3
Amazing haul, lots of great titles and YAY for that blogger meet-up!
My recent post A Shot of YA: The Vanishing Throne by Elizabeth May
It was an amazing month of books Braine! I hope you're having a great week too.
I'm happy all that has blown over now. OMG WHAT WHY HAVE YOU NOT READ ILLUMINAE YET:?! READ IT JOEY.
Dang girl, what a productive month-I'm so jealous! Looks like I should read Truthwitch ASAP! I'm drooling over all of these awesome books, I also picked up The Star Touched Queen and The Rose and the Dagger. Enjoy your new reads 😀
My recent post Meet the Newbies: Margot Harrison
Yesss please read Truthwitch, I really enjoyed it and so did Bec! I saw that we had a similar haul hehe. You too!
A solid reading month for you Jeann despite that one major hiccup with you know what — but it is in the past! A wonderful haul from best bud Jenna to boot. And omg I'm so jelly you and many others got Nevernight! I haven't read a Kristoff book myself (how have I not read Illuminae yet?!) but this one is also one that's on my radar.
My recent post [Book Haul] Spring 2016 — April/May
Twelve books AND a new job?! I'm in awe. I barely get through four a month, if I'm really devoted to reading (when I should be cleaning the house, cooking dinner, etc.) Well done, you! Looks like May was pretty amazing, so I hope June is, too.
Thank you Beth, I think as soon as things eased up towards the end of the month I just caught up on what I was missing lol. I hope you have an amazing month ahead, 4 per month is still a great number of books!
Wow! 12 books in a month! Probably cause you traveled a lot you had a lot of time to read. I read only two books last month which is so disappointing but I acquired 6 books. Two of which are review copies. Hope you had fun in Sydney!
It's definitely bigger than my usual! I ended up binge reading towards the end of the month. Thank you, I had a great time! 2 books is still fantastic!
I'm glad you've settled nicely in your new job, Jeann! I hope your routine will become easier, and that the late nights at work will be few and far between 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Thank you Lexxie, I really appreciate it! I guess that's to be expected with a new job anyways. Have a lovely week!
The publishers really have gone crazy lately, right??! XD WHICH IS EXCITING!! I do like getting unsolicited books because it makes me read ones I'd never have picked up otherwise. ;D Although I confess to being slightly overwhelmed at this point, hahaa. Ahem. NEVERNIGHT THO. AHHHHH. I hope it's amazing!!
IKR? There are so many new books out which is awesome! I've already heard great things about some of them. I am in the same boat Cait! I'm pumping out the reviews but still there's so many!
I'm sickeningly jealous of everyone that got Nevernight but I'm still happy for them. It's a complicated relationship.
And how can it be June already? This year is just flying by isn't it?

My recent post May Wrap Up: I Read 12 Books & Hauled Too Many
Happy half-way through the year! *dies inwardly* I can't believe how fast 2016 has flown by, it really, really scares me. So happy to have caught up (albeit briefly) while you were down in Sydney again! Yay 😀 And look at that haul! I just requested Nevernight after seeing it in your photo, eek I hope I get approved! 😀
Thank you Joy! It was great to see you then too, next time I'll set aside some time for dumplings 😀 lol BTW THE BEST DUMPLINGS IN HURSTY OMG. Yippee, I hope you get it because they said they got in more!
YOOOOOOOOOOO that haul 😀 Nevernight!
Also what the, 12 books? Lady that's insane *applauds* I need to read Truthwitch asap haha.
THE ROSE AND THE DAGGER. CAN YOU PLS READ THAT ASAP.
So awks I received Cracks in the Kingdom ages ago and gave it away and now everybody is saying how amazing this series is.
My recent post Review: The Square Root of Summer
I know, it just turned up recently, I just did a photoshoot of it tonight. I know, it's more than my usual, was so excited! YESSS I know what you meant about Cracks in the Kingdom. I actually gave it to Jenna to read, then she loved it so much she got me the whole series afterwards! I'm so glad I read it!
Wow May seems like a productive reading month for you, I mean 12 books! *claps* I'm glad you enjoyed My Heart and Other Black Holes!<3
My recent post May Wrap Up and June TBR
Thank you Tasya! It definitely was, I managed to catch up towards the end of it hehe. What a fantastic book! have a wonderful week ahead.
I'm so excited for tonight's show, I'm totally smitten with Ms Eagar my Twitter wife. The book that's surprised me most has been A Toaster on Mars. I'm over halfway through now and it's as if The Jetsons and Futurama had a love child, and surprisingly entertaining. Usually those type of comedic science fiction wouldn't be my thing. The ARC of Nevernight is gorgeous, I hope the finished editions looks similar, would be a shame if they changed the cover.
Yessss I'm excited because I loved both books so much! I'm so glad you're tuning in Kelly, thanks for the support. Great to hear that Toaster on Mars is decent, looking forward to your thoughts on it cos it turned up at my doorstep. I think the UK cover does look pretty similar!
ONE WOULD THINK THE DEEP IS SOOOO GOOD. Claire Zorn is just amazing as usual. And again, so nice meeting you at TeenCon. I already can't wait til next year's 🙂
